וזה מחסד אל שכל ניצוץ שזכה ביומו הנה הוא רחוק מההפסד הגם שירשיע אדם אחריו. וניצוץ אשר יעלה פגום הנה הוא יכול ליתקן - על ידי תשובה ישוב הניצוץ ויתקן גם זה מחסדי המתחסד הוא אלהינו יתעלה שמו...

לראשונים התחיל ה' להרבות להם המלאכה ונתן להם נשמות גדולות שבכל אחת יש בה חלקים רבים, והגביל לכל חלק מלאכתו יום א'. והוא סוד (שמות ט''ז ד') דבר יום ביומו. כי הענף יקרא יום ונתן להם ימים רבים כנגד חלקים אשר בנפשותם. לאדם נתן יותר משלש מאות אלף חלקים שהם מספר ימיו תתק''ל וכשיעור זה הן חסר הן יתר לדורות ההמה, וכשקלקלו ופרץ ה' בהם פרץ ואת בניהם הקים תחתם נח ובניו משם והלאה הקיל ה' מתת רוב הטורח ההוא כדי שתהיה הפקידה קרובה ויתחלחלו האנשים מעת הפקידה, וכשראה כי לא יכלו לעמוד היה מחסר והולך להקל, והן היום בעונותינו ימי שנותינו בהם ע' שנה שהם בקירוב חמשה ועשרים אלף יום ורבים מבני עמינו לא עמדו בעבודה קלה כזו...

גם בזה הרוחנו פירוש מה שאמר הכתוב (תהלים ק''ד) תוסף רוחם יגועון שאין כוונת הכתוב ידועה, גם לא אמר תוסף ברוחם, וכפי ההקדמה יאיר אור הכתוב כאור השמש. שיתכוון לומר כי כשיגיע קץ האדם פקודת נפשו יתוספו בו כל חלקי הנפש שנדו והלכו מידי לילה ולילה, והוא אומרו תוסף רוחם.
פירוש הרוח עצמה שלהם, וכבר אמרנו שהגם שהולכת אינה נעקרת בהחלט אלא הרי היא כיציאת הנשמה בלילה בעת שינה שמאיר אורה בגוף למטה והיא למעלה וזה לך האות בהעיר אדם את הישן ירגיש חלק המתעורר וירגיש גם חלק אשר עלה והבן: גם הרוחנו דעת כי אותם חלקי הנשמה נקראים ימים.

ובזה האיר משמעות הכתוב שבאנו עליו שאמר ויקרבו ימי ישראל למות פירוש חלקי הנשמה שעלו ממנו דבר יום ביומו הן עתה קרבו כמאמר הכתוב תוסף רוחם והוא אומרו למות, והרגיש יעקב אבינו בתוספת המרובה כי באו ימי השילום ויקרא לבנו ליוסף וגו'

GYE - "Simchas Beis Hashoeva" Get your dancing shoes on!

"Fortunate is he who did not sin!
One who did should return
And will be forgiven"

This is the song that was taught at the annual "Simchas Beis Hashoeva" festivities in the Beis Hamikdash (1)

Which sin are they referring to? And why was the the song of choice?

They were hinting to Lust, and fantasies of the heart. This is symbolized by lighting up the sanctuary with massive candelabras full of wicks made from worn out trousers and belts of the kohanim, which illuminated the entire city of Yerushalayim (2), and we know that those articles of clothing are designed to atone (3) for גילוי עריות and הרהורי הלב.

We also find that the building code in the Beis Hamikdash did not allow any additions or extensions, yet permission was granted to allow construction to separate women from men at the time of "Simchas Beis Hashoeva".
This acted as a safeguard, but may have served primarily to highlight what the festivity represented - the joy of being in control of our Taavos and the ability to connect to our Neshama

What was the goal?
The Gemara continues to tell us that "Beis Hashoeva" was actually a wellspring of Ruach Hakodesh.
Explains the Satmar Rebbe z"l (4) - Our sages teach us (5) that "אין אדם עובר עבירה אא״כ נכנס בו רוח שטות. So long as one is beholden and overtaken by their base desires they are disconnected from the spirit. But one who never sinned or has repented, is now able to return and tap into "ונחה עליו רוח השם".
Alternately the construction of separation between genders was the key to the door of Ruach Hakodesh, as the Midrash says "כל מקום שאתה מוצא גדר ערוה אתה מוצא קדושה"

Fortunate is he who did not sin!
One who did should return thru GYE,
And will be forgiven if he follows the steps provided ;-)

Saw a nice Ksav Sofer כתב סופר. He says that the Dor HaMahbel were so bad that they forced Noach נח to also sin like them ( which includes what the Kli Yakar says:
כי השחית כל בשר את דרכו, זה ג״ע שנקרא דרכו כדרך גבר בעלמה ולדעת רז״ל (בר״ר כו ד) חטאו בהוצאת זרע לבטלה לכך נאמר על הארץ כמו שאמר (בראשית לח ט) ושחת ארצה ).
So why is he a Tzaddik then?
Because only Hashem knew that he really wanted to be good and do Hashems will.

א"ר לוי בר חמא א"ר שמעון בן לקיש, לעולם ירגיז אדם יצר הטוב על יצר הרע, נצחו מוטב, ואם לאו יעסוק בתורה, ניצחו מוטב ואם לאו יקרא ק"ש, אי אזיל ליה מוטב, ואם לאו יזכיר לו יום המיתה - ברכות דף ה

Its clear from this Gemara that
משכהו לבית המדרש is guaranteed to fail for some struggles, and the true Torah approach to combatting the Yetzer is to use all the tools at our disposal and not lean solely on עסק התורה / Beis Hamedrash forum

I do not know all the Jewish tools, but I am glad I use all the tools I have for the journey, it has made the difference for me, i AM VERY PLEASE TO HAVE SOME JEWISH TOOLS TOO, THAT I can count on, it is now two years of victory, and bless be HaShem the success is my Infinite Father, while from time to time I stay as long as it takes at this site, and leave only when my inspiration cup is full. I glad that the ONE who is always with me, is my dearest friend, I could not watch my eyes, and my thoughts without the One, I labor in vain to build a whole life without the Greatest One.

In continuation to the question about the pusok ולא תתורו
I recall something in the name of the beis yisroel of gur (maybe he said it in jest)
that everyone will unintentionly see something but the posuks problem is only if after he saw
and his heart desires does he return to look again that is the problem .That explains the order of
the posuk why it starts with the heart if you see it first

One of the darshanim at hesped on R' Steinman z'l 2 weeks ago mentioned a simple passage from the morning prayer
שתרגלנו בתורתך ודבקנו במצותיך... ואל תשלט בנו יצה״ר
And he asked - if we are seriously רגיל in Torah and דבקים in Mitzvos, why are we asking to be saved from יצה״ר?
And he said we see here that one can have the highest מדרגות, nevertheless the יצה״ר can be at his throat

Listen brother - it sounds like you want to do it different than the 20 gye tools. By all means go ahead. But if you want to succeed here on gye all you need to do is start a new thread (no more excuses) and write
"Hi my name is... I struggle with pornography / masturbation / all / none / other and today is day x on the 90 day chart".

Until then you may be wasting your time here...
