I was able to learn an hour yesterday.. some mishnayos, some gemara, some machshava on the yontif. And shut off my computer by 12 or maybe 12:01, frustratingly.  I've been pretty busy with family and stuff, which is good.  We went out yesterday, so there was lots of walking aroud I guess, but I didn't really do any special exercise otherwise.  Will try to do some today, B"N.

One interesting thing: There is a Shira by Dovid at the end of שמואל ב that we actually read on the 7th day of pesach because it has a lot to do talks about leaving mitrzrayim  (at least acc. to Rashi) and has hints to Kerias Yam suf.  In one Pasuk Dovid says that Hashem protected him because "ואשתמרה מעוני" - and there is a p'shat (brought in the blue artscroll navi) that this means he was careful about his sin, meaning the specific sin that would take him away from his personal mission in life.  Each person has some personal mission that is unique to him.  But he can be tempted to transgress specifically in that area, to draw him away from fulfilling his mission.  David was thankful for his success in being careful in that particular area in order to fulfill his life mission.  

It may be that Dovid's legacy to us is his ענוה and אמונה. Despite being king, he was able to say "I sinned" and to take responsibility and accept Hashem's justice against him and his family in extraordinary fashion, sometimes even to a fault.  All this despite being king, etc. He also had tremendous emunah, not hurting shaul even when his own life was being threatened, and eulogizing Shaul as a tzadik despite their personal conflict. 

Some people would also apply this lesson to the struggle that many of us have with lust.  I'm not sure 'i would do that exactly, but it's an interesting thing to think about and contemplate and ask oneself "What is my mission?"

Today I learned gemara for a nice bit after shacharis, and spend the day out and about - on my feet, but not exercising exactly... and then time at home with family.  I'm falling behind on my GYE!  

I guess I will shut off the internet at 12:00, even thought that's like 2 min, and maybe sign on in the morning.

It's really late here. I just remembered the 12 oclock shutoff thing. Ok better late than never.

I did a heckload of walking today on a trip with some family, and was able to learn after ma'ariv.  Honestly, it hasn't been a productive week in terms of my "outside yontif" responsibilities, but it's been fun.  And clean : )

 

I rediscovered an old time waster and spent the last two days on it. Today I did stuff though. A very decent amount of exercise as well. I'm going offline now because of the shutoff.

Hey all! Hope Y"T was good for everyone.  I enjoyed, and hopefully gained something too.

So... is it still bain hazmanim? I signed off internet last night around midnight, and I will B"N try to resume learning today, and maybe abridged exercise, because it is a truly ugly beautiful rainy day on the east coast.  Heard lots of news past few days -- a few people died, unfortunately, a few got engaged, very happily, and a baby was born.  I guess that's life for ya.



 

Well, I gained something too, but hopefully I'll lose it if I'm careful about exercise and what I eat

well, the bain hazmanim group was an exercise program of sorts.. but maybe we need a post Y"T shake down.  

I've heard that you can lose a lot on  a hardcore cornography diet, but I can't remember if they promised you would lose weight or something else
