Moishe that was beautiful. It really is a choice between me and G-d. Who has the power, who is on control. Am I dumb enough to think it is me, or the perspective to remember it is G-d.

Thank you for that.

Remember at least for today, for right now, you can choose G-d. So tell Him how much you need Him and how much you love Him. Maybe He'll show you some of His love back.

We have done lots of talkin' and thinkin' and delvin'.

For me, the question is different: it is a choice between me and me.

Dov told me recently that he would rewrite step one to first say that our life is unmanageable as is (if it truly is); then we can discuss powerlessness and control.

Cordnoy,
Not sure I understand your objection to what I or moishe wrote.

Every muscle in my body is tense.
I am fighting myself with all my strength.
Why don't I just give myself over to Hashem? It really is the easy way out; no fighting, no tension.
Because then I have to give up my drug.
I don't want to give up the sweet escape from reality.
Real life is painful. Fantasy is geshmak.
I am terrified to let go of my medication.
I continue to hold onto lust with a death grip.
I may even convince myself that I am choosing correctly, as I am not actively pursuing lust.
But I am still a prisoner.

No objection.

Mentioned above was that the question was "Me or God?"
Unless one is in a good state of recovery, when one is lustin', the answer to that question might end up bein' "me."
I know by me it was.
However, if the question is asked differently, "Me (present mode), or me (Livin' life)?" the response might be a different one.

"Real life is painful."

If that is the truth, which it very well may be, that is the point to address; not the lust.
When you are lustin' or tense, ask yourself, "What is so painful about life?"
Truth is - ask the question when you are not lustin' or tense as well.
Therein lies the key - me think.

Methinks he knows what it is but not what to do about it or how to resolve it, but I'm sure you two have discussed it.

It would feel very good right now to take a hit of my sweet sweet drug.
Such an easy escape from reality; such a great high.
I'm too lazy to get around all my filtration devices at the moment, but wonderful fantasies can easily be dreamed up in my mind's eye.
So, what will it be? Will I? Or won't I? Do I really have the ability to choose anymore?
Of course I do. But the choice is not yes or no, life or death, sanity or foolishness.
Given those options, I am guaranteed to choose the choice of folly and fleeting pleasure. Eventually. Perhaps not this time (though probably), but my will power is not unlimited. It is, in fact, very weak.
The choice I have right now is the choice between me and God. Nothing more, nothing less. If I choose me, which I well may, I will then be faced with the futile options presented above.
If I choose to accept God, anything is possible.
But will I?
Will you?

There are a lot of people rooting for you.
But only one matters.
אם אין אני לי, מי לי?

Today, I am rooting for myself.
