I heard a renowned mashgiach, who is known for his hadracha in עניני קדושה say that this book is treif? What's the deal?

Who? Is he anonymous?

What were his issues with it? It doesn't seem to bring up anything inappropriate and the language is very guarded.

Also are you sure he was referring to this book (The Battle of THE Generation) because there is another book with a similar name (The Battle of OUR Generation). (This one has a blue cover. The other is orange.)

Are you sure he was talking about this book, there is another book also titled battle of the generation which is basically the exact opposite of this book, super guilt tripping the whole thing. I know about from my mashgiach, he was surprised when I told him that the book had helped me and figured out he thought I was talking about this other book. So maybe try to clarify

I never heard of this "Battle of our generation" until now. Just read it since it's only 55 pages.
It is super confusing that two people would put out two books on the same topic with such similar names.
But the "our generation" one is hard to imagine it's "treif" (I feel qualified to say after reading it in 10 minutes). It has haskomos from R' Ahron Feldman and R' Moshe Weinberger (aish kodesh). The sections on keeping clean are the exact same as what's recommended on GYE. The language is explicit but not worse than what's on GYE by any means. 
I guess there's a lengthy section on the harmful effects of porn that might be considered a "guilt trip". I would suggest not reading that if you are a bochur who has not already felt the harmful effects of porn and is feeling guilty and depressed enough already. Perhaps that's why he called it treif. But I'm disappointed I haven't seen this before. Would do alot of good in the world if this was published.

Regardless, the "The Generation" is just endless upbeat, pumping mussar on how you can and will win this if you just grit your teeth and fight. Inspiring and very clean language so it speaks to all levels of the struggle. Zero guilt trips involved.
