So, we finished the books (white, big and some action) and steps for the third time on the afternoon cords call. We have about 8 to 10 regulars, plus sporadic others. There are several email groups connected to the call as well.
The last two days we have been discussin' the followin':
Humility
Productivity
Gettin' out of one self
חשבון הנפש
Surrender
Recognizin' our defects
Other stuff (Vegas line, falafel munchin')

Any suggestions for tomorrow and Thursday?

Iy"h we will start fourth time around on Monday.

He wrote (someplace) that "escapism" and "lustin'" are two different things, and in fact, they may be contradictory diagnoses. While I may not be able to explain it, i do not believe that to be the case. I think one leads to the other - either way.

The way Bigmoish explained this concept today was an eye opener for me. I haven't realized how much I've been escaping all my life much before acting out came into the picture. It's just that acting out has become the prime way of escaping. In one of the stories in the big book a woman describes how she tried all kind of hobbies to get her out of addiction, and they worked, some for even a few years, but ultimately she was still addicted.

Our 1:20 EST call begins its fourth cycle tomorrow iy"h.
We read from white book, big book, action book and more. We move thru the steps in a fairly brisk pace....sometimes. Time is provided for sharing, questions and comments. We are encouraged to fill out fourth step inventory sheets, and we give time (we try) throughout the day and night to work thru those sheets. They truly make a helluva of a difference in our lives. Just ask anyone who has tried.

I saw around 2PM EST yesterday that there was a new cycle, and I'd been planning on joining a call for a while. While I missed it by a day, I'll try to jump on the bandwagon today (I have a meeting at 1, so I might be a couple minutes late).
