Not going to go into detail. I've strong moral convictions, I'm young and I'm (hopefully) going into the military soon. Need to kick this habit which started ages ago and before I had any real conception of morality, or of my father's Gd. I want to succeed in the military and want to become a man capable of raising a solid, happy family one day, which sadly very few men in the recent generations of my family have been able to do. To be honest, I felt pretty ashamed coming here and typing this, but it's surely less shameful than continuing to do something I know to be wrong.

No question, just a way of introduction. Sorry if this would be classed as spam. Not the IDF though I do love Israel and will definitely travel there again one day.

So here's a question then: What do you find to be effective ways of staying away from porn? Exercise is good for it's own sake but I'm not sure if it actually eliminates the urge. I don't feel as though I'm addicted to porn, but I always end up lapsing when I try to abstain for over a fortnight or so. I feel like a hypocrite having moral convictions and knowing their roots in Torah but still lapsing. I guess everyone feels this way. I mean if you don't think morally it's easy to rationalise porn as just an activity, but we know why it's wrong.

Reading the Gye handbook is a productive excercise

I've got a lot of respect for lone soldiers in the IDF. I did consider it when I was 18.
