Addicted to failure? As in that is what you take pleasure in?
Perhaps it is not an addiction, just a lack of honesty to what you are really capable of?
If you take an honest look at where you are actually holding in the different parts of your life and build your expectations accordingly, then every "failure" can be seen for the successful small step forward that it is.

well my addiction is similar to those being focused on in this site, it's just that when I fight off the y"h for a while, I eventually feel a tremendous urge to act out again even though I know clearly that it's wrong. That, however just gives my y"h a sudden surge of energy to entice me to act out again. thus failing in my goals. Hence, the name of this y"h is addiction to failure. My Rebbe said that just knowing the name of the y"h gives you so much co'ach to fight it.

Addicted to failure is a deep insight. Concerning "it's just that when I fight off the y"h for a while, I eventually feel a tremendous urge to act out again" read Dov's article entitled Nuclear Reset Button.

Am I missing something? Serenity advised me to read Dov's article called The nuclear reset button. Now please correct me for I must be wrong, but as crazy as this may sound, it seems like Dov is advising people to masturbate in order to do teshuva afterward...

What Dov is sayin' (I think) is that the nuclear reset button is one that us addicts are/were constantly usin'. He is not suggestin' that people should do that - he is simply statin' the facts as he has seen them with himself and with hundreds of others. We, obviously, need to figure out how to stop that vicious cycle. you wanted to identify the y"h (although I personally would not subscribe to that view of yours), so serenity pointed out what he thought might be goin' on with you.

b'hatzlachah in recovery (and especially with breakin' that 'nuclear restet button' syndrome - if that indeed is what you are into).

Yes you are . It's what Avrom (cordnoy) is saying. Dov is describing what people are going through who are not approaching recovery in a successful manner.
Much Hatzlacha!
