Does anyone know how to prevent spam on gmail? I am going crazy from inapprpriate SPAM. Help!!!

Unsubscribe means opening the emails which you DONT want to do

Try drag any such emails into the junk / spam folder

Each email address you drag into junk, in future these will automatically be moved into the junk folder as soon as arrives by gmail automation

im not by a PC now, but I think you can also right click a individual email before opening it, and have option of 'report spam' 'unsubscribe', which will block future mail from that address

I just delete all my spam.

I think its better to unsubscribe once for all then getting inappropriate emails evrey day when its in spam you still have access to it

Very simple, in settings uncheck the promotions tab you wont get anything anymore.

  • Log into you Gmail account.
    1. Click the gear icon .
    2. Click Settings.
    3. Click Filters and Blocked Addresses
    4. Enter "Undisclosed recipients" in the "To" field. Click "Next Step."
    5. Select "Delete It." Click "Create Filter."

ok, i got to settings. i clicked filters and blocked addresses, but i dont see the "to" field. All I see is "the following filters are applied to all incoming mail..."

Sorry for being so computer illeterate. Funny, when I am acting out, I figure it all out...

Gmail sorts stuff in 3 categories Primary - Social - Pormotions - by the side of the promotions tab should be a plus sign click on it, you'll get the opotion to uncheck the promotion tab, once you hit that off you go.

I think what happens if you uncheck those tabs the mail just goes into your primary inbox. 

Markz has the right idea. he just forgot to say that after you get to the Filters and Blocked Addresses screen, you click on "Create a new filter ".
