Yes TSH, it is very hard to make that move, the move that will for one make it further away, and maybe even more difficult, it will be a statement to the notion that I can't do this myself with sheer willpower, that I am powerless and that I need to put something else on top of me to keep me back. Neither of those are easy things to do, but they are the essence of recovery.

As someone with addictive tendencies, I try and try to do it myself, I want to be in control, not only in this but in all matters of life. If something doesn't go the way I tried to make it, or the way I thought it would be or that I think it should be, I lose mind and can't deal with it. THUS I run to escape from the reality, the reality that I'm not in control, that there is something bigger and greater than me!

Letting go of those notions is the key, and by being in touch with other people who are doing it gives me the strength to know that I can do it too!!

So stick around as long as you may need to, it's a happy fellowship and we need all the fellows we can get!!

GREAT NEWS! I DID IT! the filter is now linked to my wife's sisters email! i know i still have a lot more to do, but boy was this a big step! Thanks Big Moish, Cordnoy, Pidaini, and all the rest of the chevra. i'm just getting to know you guys, but in a way i feel closer to you than my other friends. i'm sure you all- WE all understand that feeling. Looking forward to informing you about my continued recovery!

I'm so happy for you! One of my big steps to recovery, which I'm still on, was to get accountability software for my laptop. Yes, there are times when I may have access to someone else's, but it makes a big difference to not always have that nisayon.

Just a quick update that things are still going well, B"H. Thanks for all the chizuk guys!

I'm not married, yet, but to me it makes sense. Since you don't have that healthy outlet of tashmish, naturally the yetzer hara will want to push you in another direction.

I think everyone has a hard time in a certain respect during niddah period, but it's a good time to internalize the message that total abstinence is possible (Dov has mentioned this many times), and we should really only be focusing on our wife's needs. This can be easier in a way during this time, because we can try to think of ways to help our wives, or do kind things for them, without the thought of getting anything physical in return.
