I had a great idea, if someone has $400 Maaser money lying around. Rabbi Orlofsky has a podcast that reaches around 20,000 people. It's called The Rabbi Orlofsky Show and it's on TorahAnytime, Youtube, and many other places, so it hits a wide range of audiences. If someone wants to put together a quick paragraph about GYE and then sponsor an episode for $400, it would reach A LOT of new people from all different places and types. I'm pretty sure they would run something about gye. (If anyone is interested in taking the zchus: www.rabbiorlofsky.com/sponsor)

BH thanks to a special secret GYE sponsor who sponsored the Q and A! Listen here, 50 minutes in:

Guys I just want to let everyone know, I'm one of the guys that were 'chapped' by your signs and advertisements. Well, it worked I'm here.
I have one piece of advice.
Dont ever stop what your doing.
Your saving lives, mamash. I was and might still be living in gehinnom. I've been on gye before, but before long I was another deleteduser.....
Now with talking to some chevra weekly or daily and meeting I really think I might see the light...

The Rabbi Orlofsky show usually gets at least 10,000 views, and sometimes closer to 20,000. So we are hopeful that this will reach many people.

If anyone is interested in sponsoring a full episode for $400, please let us know. Of course it can be done anonymously. The zechusim are enormous, and you can use maaser.

Dearest friends, BH the proposals that started off here, be it the vaad (Shem, can we have a link please?) or the telephone line, BH they happened. I didn't really believe they would, but they did!

Now, we are looking for proposal number 3
Can we all put on our thinking caps and figure out, how can we reach the Rabbanim/Mashgichim/Chosson Rebbeim to whom such things come, and help them understand how to help a couple that comes with these issues?
Feel free to say hi. My email is 1gimpelovitz@gmail.com

There are Rabbonim that need to be spoken to one at a time. There are those that have their head in the sand and hopefully those that are realistic.
Many have been spoken to already as you know....
May you slide down the banister of happiness and get many splinters of success up your career

I think if some of the Rabbanim here would reach out to Rabbi Shafier, perhaps he would be willing to help out with this. (PM me for his email if you want to do it.)

Vaad link is in my signature as always. (The chiddush is that now it's working.)

Can you clarify what you are proposing? Do you think Rabbanim et. al need help with the toichen or with awareness of the problem? It sounds like you think Rabbanim are not equipped to deal with problems people are approaching them with.
:pinch: Warning: Spoiler!

That's kind of a broad problem to approach. But if the impression is that they know they are uneducated and would be interested in getting educated, then perhaps a GYE manual for rabbinical folks would be helpful. I had an idea of distributing a pamphlet for Rabbeim in conjunction with the Esa Einei program for bochurim and it turns out GYE already has a fantastic book for educators about helping bochurim. So maybe it's just a matter of getting it out there.

Alternatively, if there are a few experts around and it's not practical to train the average rabbi up to dealing with the complexities, perhaps it's just a matter of distributing the hotline number to Rabbis.

Speaking from a community that is somewhere between Lakewood and Burma, it doesn't take much asking to find out who the local "experts" are for help in these areas. The problem here may be that not everyone asks, or even realizes that they should. I think encouraging those Rabbonim who are involved (and maybe the appropriate social workers / therapists) to speak to their own community / school faculty would have a great impact. When he speaks, it's about people you know in the place where you are, which makes it more real.

It also establishes some connections that they can refer to or reach out to for guidance in the future. Don't want to ask for too much, but occasional check-ins would help maintain engagement.

To add to Shem's suggestion, maybe it would be a good idea to inform local leaders of the hotline so they can pass that resource around.

L'hosif od, I think there are still misconceptions about what GYE offers, who is here, what is here, and how it works. Maybe we the chevra on GYE should be talking to a few of the Rabbinic leaders in our home communities (if you aren't already) to tell them what it's like on the inside, and to answer questions if they want to know more about it. It might seem (and be) a bit awkward at first, but anyone that deals in the area of these struggles should be able to understand and appreciate someone who is working on it - and the honesty and vulnerability it takes to share that. Definitely there is room for some caution (I used the word 'should') as seichel is needed to confide in a safe person.

Please feel free to reach out. I'd appreciate connecting with you (via GYE, email, or phone - whatever floats your boat)

A manual can be a good idea.

Also, maybe approaching some of the Rabbeim that speak on Vayimaen videos, that have a young close-knit kehilla and having a meeting with them.
