Hi everyone!
I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured I would just post this here. (Moderators: feel free to move this topic to where you think it would be most appropriate.)
I recently watched the videos of Yechezkel Stelzer, CEO of GuardYourEyes, and his efforts for cleaner internet in Israel.
Does anybody know if there is any similar movement in America? If not I would love to start one.
Of the research I've done on the attempts of outlawing porn, there seems to be a long-going debate that outlawing porn would be unconstitutional (i.e. freedom of speech).
I feel like there's not much we can do to stop the "bad" people from creating their poison, but what about getting the government to pass a law that all internet providers have to give the consumers an option to allow or block websites legally classified as pornography? Obviously this wouldn't solve every problem out there, but it would be a huge step.
I feel that most of the danger of porn is for children who unknowingly come upon a porn website, intentionally or not.
If can’t imagine that any regular parent when buying internet would knowing check a box that they want porn websites to be allowed through their internet.
So many parents are naive to the dangers of the internet. Having something like this would raise more awareness and for whoever wants it, could have it. (That way nobody can claim it's unconstitutional.)

What do you guys think??

Well I'm not totally certain myself.
I think a start would be to go into doing more research into what federal laws already may exist in regard to pornography and see what type of plan we could put together that would be feasible to actually start a movement.
In the idea I had there would be many variables to work out and terms to define.
i.e. What's considered legally porn.
There would also be the technical aspect of it. Would the plan need to include how the internet providers would do this or would that be up to the smart techies once a law would be passed.
If anybody has any insights I would love to hear.
There's a website called change.org that would be a great platform for a "petition" like this.
If we can put together enough of a plan we can start a campaign and work towards our goal.

Hi Yehuda,
I really don't want to bust your bubble, but I don't think such a plan would work. The porn industry is a multi billion dollar industry and has way more money to spend to make sure porn is accessible to all. Some are lobbying already to lower the age of consent to 16.
Here they also would play the first amendment card.
We would be more successful working on ourselves and if we can, to petition the service providers directly rather than trying to enforce on a federal level.
p.s. Most cellphone providers already have such an option, and I really don't recommend their level of filtering even for an adult. It is basic at the most minimum.

Hatzlacha Rabba!

Lk said it like it is

Also, before legislating what people watch in private, let's garner signatures to have congress pass laws regarding basic public dress codes

Problem is, if we push too hard, then the same as there are no smoking signs and then smoking areas, they will similarly designate zero dress code areas...

Leave it up to the government to design the sign with a full color nude lady on it and a diagonal line across...

If you do have money to spend on filtering, how about upgrading TAG's filter to have gigabit speeds, instead of running off a small server in a basement somewhere in brooklyn?
