Hello all,

I have a question about helping a member of my family.

A close member of my family is addicted to p... sites on the internet. I don't know exactly what is the gravity of his addiction, but when I have to use his computer, I see often in the browser's history that he visited p... sites (for clarification, I don't check the browser's history willingly, being myself a dependant and aware of the danger to check this by myself, but even with a regular using of the computer, the information could appear to me).

He is a member of my wife's family, and she is aware of the problem, but she wants to ignore his problem completly.

He is not very religious : he celebrate the chagim, but he don't go to shul on shabbos, and he don't put tfilin if I don't offer to do so.

I wonder how it will be possible to help him, if it will be possible...
Of course, I can't speak about this clearly with this person, for questions of respect, and I think that talking clearly with him can do the things worse.
And my wife can't also do this.

Maybe to sign up him discretly to the mails of 'Hizuk ? Or something else ?
Or I have to give up, and just pray and wait that one day he will begin to "open his eyes" ?

Thank you for your help !

I don't see anything too wrong with signing him up to the emails.
Perhaps it might be of service.
Otherwise, i would tread carefully, especially with your wife, for I do not remember what you have told her about your issues.

Ok, I see...

Cordnoy, my wife is aware that I have some problems, but I didn't tell her that I am a dependant... with all that this implies.

I think that I must pray for the moment for him, and perhaps to sign up him to the emails a little later.

Maybe it's a term they use in France?

Hello Cordnoy,

I am fine...
I got some 130 days of sobriety, but I fallen last monday : many tiredness, and I think also I was beginning to be too confident after all this time of sobriety, and I didn't keep in mind the big danger of the addiction, that was always here after 90 days of sobriety...

But I am very glad that I reached this amount of days, that was an accomplishment that I never done before !

Soon after, I managed to keep up again, and to not begin to dig in the mud of p*... And always a day at a time.

This message helped me a much after my fall : guardyoureyes.com/forum/11-Working-Through-the-GYE-Handbooks/83910-28-We-don%E2%80%99t-lose-past-gains-after-a-fall#83910

There is nothing new about my friend...
I am davening for him, and I hope that with Hashem help, things will become better for him
