Had a few good email chats, now that you mention it.
Today has been a great day so far.
Guests coming for Shabbos.
Made arrangements to go swimming again. It's fun, and it's a real treat for my son, who just finished Zerayim with me. I have to find a small ball to play catch with in the water. That would be great.
Plumber coming to fix a couple of leaks...
I can't help noticing that the last 2 or 3 times I have fallen, somewhere in my house gets a leak,
that then costs me real money to fix. But instead of this making me feel down,
I actually take this as an expression of love by HaShem to give me a kaparah
and get the message to be more careful in the future. These relatively small/soft messages are all I need,
and I am very happy not to need to get any louder messages, chas v'shalom!

I am!

BTW, how do you stretch the "g" sound at the end of "Going"?
I guess it's like stretching the "daled" in "echad"  .

Re: Road to 90 days (how I succeeded, and you can too) 19 Feb 2017 11:37 #306118

I tackled something last night, that I've been avoiding for months!
And I feel a lot better now.
Nothing is finished, nothing really changed. There is still a lot of work to do.
But the fact that I felt able to take it "head on", with a little help from my wife and son,
and not keep escaping and avoiding it, is a siman tov and a real step forward!
I hope everyone has a great day!

I just heard a fantastic shiur by R. YY Jacobson who gave the keynote speech
at the A Time Shas-a-thon last year.
The Shas-a-thon is going on RIGHT NOW...where about 290 people (or about 500 chavrusas)
are learning and completing ALL of Shas in one day!
Amazing!
My son said that he would love to do it with me one year. The only down side is that
the minimum amount that you have to agree to raise or donate is $2600 (per chavrusa pair).
But the siyum and the HIGH everyone must experience, has to be "out of this world".

One small step for you today, one giant leap when you look back at it tomorrow! Keep it up, tackle ODAAT as they say...

Wow, 7 days clean.
I guess it's only been a week,
but my mindset is far, far away from what it was.
-----------
Two VERY big deals are:
1. I gave up watching all t.v. streaming video episodes and movies and youtube.
2. I started a new mini-support group with clear expectations.
-----------
Plumber was a small fix, thank G-d, and only cost me about $100 bucks.
Enough of a message to recognize it, but not too harsh to destroy me.
Hopefully, I got the message . I don't want any more leaks...anywhere.

Just posted a powerful short story by Rav Fishel Shechter on the "Beis Medrash" thread.
It's filled with lessons. Maybe check it out.

Anytime you post about somewhere else, can you hyperlink it if that's possible. Just makes it easier. Thanks

If I knew how, I would definitely do that.

I don't even know how to quote someone, especially when I only want
to quote part of his post. So I just use quotation marks.
