Question- again, not sarcastic or meaning to challenge, I just want to understand how it works for you- do you ever find yourself doing things you shouldn't even a little that wouldn't happen with the filter? Basically, can you share how and at what point in your recovery you made that decision?

Because the truth is that I'm certain ways, filters are worse for me than when I use computers that I know don't have them. (Only in certain ways)

Recovery might have been sooner with a strong filter in place. Perhaps not. I don't remember when it was removed. Most of the time, I had a device or two that wasn't filtered. 

ThereI is a time when the concept of one moment at a time becomes inculcatedI into a person that a filter, which is generally there for the next moment, becomes unnecessary.

In my years on GYE, I have looked at things I shouldn't have. Lately, I watch shows (which a filter wouldn't block), but I don't go searchin' for lust things. 

You need to become at peace with your life, so you don't go gaga over your filter. You areI viewin' your filter as the bad guy or as the object of lust, which youI need to tinker or test.

Yes, but when possibly all rabbonim from all types of kehillos have made it clear that it is absolutely forbidden to have unfiltered internet except in extremely extenuating circumstances (i assume you received such a heter), and this organization GYE promotes that idea very much, it doesn't make sense that someone who makes such a strong impression on many people should publicly state that he doesn't use filters. I think it is wonderful how everyone is so honest on the forum. There is serious soul searching going on leading people to be 100% honest with themselves and with fellw forum participants, however not every thing that is true has to be stated.

I'm not sure I agree with you that it shouldn't be stated m, but of course let's make it clear- everyone should have a filter because the Rabbanim said so.

However if a person feels gay the filter will affect him negatively and might impact his sobriety, I don't think that he needs to go ask a Rov although it might be advisable.

And yes, wanting to watch your shows wouldn't be a reason not to have a filter, but again, if a person knows that without his shows he'll go looking for worse, then he should probably just watch the shows.

There are times when a filter is needed for this moment too. It's very easy to typo an URL and get to an unsavory site (the owners of such sites deliberately register typos of common websites in order to trap the unwary). Therefore my opinion is that everyone needs to have at least a basic filter in place (such as K9 with the default settings). It also will protect you from a lot of phishing and malware sites.
