One evening last week, I get home after a long day at work to find that my wife had almost-ready shakshuka, meaning the sauce was prepared and the only thing needed was to put the eggs in, salt them and ensure they get cooked nicely. She asked if I could please take care of that and I said “Sure!”. And so I did. While trying to handle the screeching baby. Shoyn.
I’m telling you, it was looking amazing and smelling even better.
As it reaches perfection, my wife asks if I can put the baby to bed, because she’s “had enough”. Sigh. Being a good husband, I said “okay”. (Notice the lack of “!”) Before getting him into pjs I check his diaper and, lo and behold! it was dirty! (No wonder he was unhappy). I change his diaper, trying my best to tune out his ear-splitting screaming.
As I’m getting him into his pjs, my wife comes in the bedroom- eating the steaming yumminess-, and says “can you please do something about the screaming? It’s really disturbing my supper.”
I honestly thought she was being cute. And then I saw her face, now I’m a believer, and I realized she was legitimately upset at me.

Here’s a warm hand… ugh. That hurts.
Just a good idea to remember that sometimes women (or men) get upset , in a situation, or for wherever reason, and then they express that upset in the direction of their wonderful, undeserving, spouse. Because, much like Mt.  Everest, he is there. Doesn’t make it Geshmack, and doesn’t make it right. But good to remember that she may not really be upset at you.

Here’s a hug,

I love my wife. She’s a rockstar. Well, most of the time, anyways.

She is so generous. She even shared her stomach virus with me unintentionally, and then got upset when I couldn’t help with the kids since I was flipping sick!!!
And then, after I vomit my guts out, Sleeping Beauty calls out from the bedroom “can you try to keep it down? I’m trying to sleep here.” Right. Because my making noise is my own fault.

And on the subject of vomiting, this might get graphic, so click at your own risk.

Certified as a Super Grouch. (You should really tell your wife how her communication style makes you feel.) ;-)

Actually. Whenever I throw up it comes out my nose.
I think it's clenching the jaw and trying to hold it in that makes it blow out the nose.

Relatedly, this is why I don't drink heavily anymore.
