I would sugggest, lifi anyius daati, that the vort is similar to the "machatzis hashekel" vort, i.e. even though we are continually making progress, we are never "there." Progress not perfection. This mehalech is al pi poshut p'shat, but I am sure others here have deep thoughts on this sugya...

I keep tryin* to keep on truckin*, but sometimes it just *ets very difficult; thank *od I am still bein* successful, for I am lookin* at one moment at a time.
