Sorry TZ I have blocked yahoo answers because I found a lot of sex stuff that I loved reading (and that was a gray platform that got me going onto black heavy stuff) and a lot of proxy sites that skipped my filters, except for K9, no proxy has cracked that yet as far as I have tried)

The word 'shomayim" is always plural.

This is what they write:

Nothing to report. 450 days sober and 17 days on the Chart.
The Blind Beggar is a character in Rebbe Nachman's story of the Seven Beggars.
If I view a woman as an object, I am powerless over lust, but I don't have to look.
I can guard my eyes.
I want to guard my eyes.
I do guard my eyes.
Why do I say these four lines?

Re: Hello from Blind Beggar 22 Jun 2012 13:49 #140010

If you don't mind explaining that: What is the (or your) definition of 'sober' vs 'on the chart'? (I personally do not know (or care) if I am sober, and I'm not on the chart. I just try to make the most of every day and every moment and every situation. And B"H it's going pretty good. May Hashem continue to shine his countenance upon us forever and a day.)

"Sober" means sober according to the definition of SA which means no masturbation or sex with anyone except the spouse. The Chart's rules can be found here: http://guardyoureyes.org/woh/WOHRules.php

this has been discussed ad nauseum, I think earlier on this thread as well as elswhere.

That's fine. As we had a chance to find out, you feel that your "issue" is merely that: an "issue" that needs a little adjustment, some hachlotois toivois, and a sharing of your perspective with others. You "just try to make the most of every day and every moment and every situation." And, according to your honest reporting "B"H it's going pretty good." Which is all the more reason to be happy for you.
Our friend BB, however, as well as I and some others I met around here, suffer from a mental disorder, akin to alcoholism and drug addiction. I can't make the most of every day etc, simply because my head's not big enough to make the most of anything.
So I'm just happy when I'm sober (i.e. I'm not drinking, drugging, and porning), as it describes quite precisely where I am holding in life: I am a sober drunk. And the chart is an additional tool some of us like use to track our progress.
Interestingly, a lot of my co-SAyers, who are goyim etc, also realize the inherent dangers to sobriety from watching porn etc, and many have sworn off the TV, magazines, billboards, etc, and track their "image sobriety" separately, as an added tool in their arsenal.

Baby steps.
If the road is pulling you down, it's a sign that you are going uphill, so just press harder on the gas!

Have a great day - unless, of course, you made other plans.

Nice of you to think of me as some tzaddik שלא טעם טעם חטא who 'blundjed' into GYE. I can honestly declare that after decades of not knowing what my problem is, and not being able to control it, GYE helped me understand that, simply stated, I'm an addict (if I would post all the juicy details of my escapades you may understand, but I do not think that it will help anybody in any way - aderabbah). However, I believe in the GYE handbook philosophy (unlike those who disagree) that there are levels to this disease, and people should find their level of treatment based on their level of disease. I believe that, until I have reason to believe otherwise, I have found be"H a mehalech that keeps me sober and keeps me worthy of being on the chart. But part of that mehalech is to not look at such metrics. Just to 'keep on trucking' as they say here.

Anyhow hatzlacha to all of us according to our individual needs.

A little drosho:

"Poseyach es yodecho..." - the left is called yodecho, right is called y'minecho.

There are two kinds of Left hands: "lehakos b'egrof resha" - the fist is the closed left hand of dinnim, where it's 5 chasodim (the fingers) are in katnus and not expressed at all. That's where evil can attach. So we beat our chest in "chatanu" using davka a closed hand (fist). [Perhaps we use our right hand in "chatanu" to show that we twisted even the chasodim of our right, in our aveiros?]

Then there is the open left hand, where there are 5 chasodim that function - though through dinim: the Chesed is meted out according to the needs and proper goal for the recievers. Hence the end of the pasuk, "...umasbiya l'chol chai Ratzon" Hey - but there are poor, starving people! What could l'chol chai possibly mean? As Rav Moshe Valli, the talmid of the RMCh"L explained it, He gives shefa that will be divided up and measured out properly, according to the individual needs and tikkun of the individuals who will receive it. To those who need hunger R"l, he grants hunger, and to those who need food, He grants food - all as an expression of the Shoresh of Chessed (Kesser being Ratzon) and the perfect tikun for each creature.

Just a thought, be"H.

I love and support and participate with GYE, but do not believe in "the levels of addiction", as I explained elsewhere. I do believe in levels of honesty, perhaps as a result of levels of pain from addiction. And I know that MT is not the only one who has found tremendous help with GYE: from the community of GYE, the forum, the handbooks, etc. I do my part, you do yours.

Maybe we are different 'fingers' on the same 'hand'?
"Off the 18-wheeler and fine on this tricycle!", "I do not particularly care exactly which "lav" suicide is. I'm not interested in it for other reasons...and you are probably the same."

Maybe, Dov. And if so, you must be the thumb and me the pinky. Can't explain it, but that's my perception. But whatever the configuration, together we make a fist and beat the 'chatanu'.
