First of all thanks for welcoming me. And thanks for your answer. Now the story with me is very heartbreaking how a young person like me ruined his life with the own hands. I got married a few years ago it started when I discovered the maride life i started to serch for dvds and all schmutz and then I discovered that I can see everything and anything every second in the small machine in my hand so i started to search for schmutz and i was spending every day an hour for sure on it until i got addicted to it and my wife found out and she wanted to leave me i have a few children so basically now when i saw in what i put myself into it was almost to late.so my wife told me first to open an account with gye and ask for help there. And here i am i opened an account and I just posted a few words that im new and looking for help and in less then 2 hours im getting replys how nice people can be. Thanks for your interest in helping me.

Welcome to GYE and this forum! I just cried while reading your comment. I hope Hashem gives your wife the patience and understanding to stick by you. I also hope He removes this obsession from you and guides you through recovery. You are very fortunate that she found out about this now, so you can stop in its tracks, because otherwise it only gets worse.

WELCOME! I was married for over a decade before my wife caught me looking at porn (which I had been doing for many years before I got married). She was shocked and hurt. It took a lot of talking and a lot of work, but B"H our relationship got better as a result. Please know that it can get better. I'm sober B"H for 5 1/2 years. Do the work. It's worth it for your wife, for your kids, and for YOU! Please let your wife know that there are many of us suffering from addiction, and many recovering as well.

Start with the handbook. Try to implement the ideas. If they are not working "up the dosage". You may need 12 step phone calls. You may even need to attend live meetings. You will get a sense of it as time goes on. You will see what works and what doesn't.

Do you have a Rav or some 3rd party that you and your wife trust. Our Rav was vital in restoring our relationship. You need all the help you can get. We are here to help any way that we can.

Keep posting, and NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

Welcome aboard-this is the best place in the frum web ( and frum world) to deal with the twin addictions of porn and massturbation , and worse that have plagued all of us. My wife also urged me to open an account here after years of attempting on my own to fight an addiction that I had denied.

One more thing I forgot. Your wife can join the "spouses of addicts" section of GYE and get chizzuk from other wives. She needs to get chizzuk from somewhere. It is very scary and confusing for her.

Re: new to the site 10 Mar 2015 21:18 #250251

WELCOME!

You could not have done better for yourself than joining GYE!

You can find great advice on the website and speak to so many guys through the forums, chatrooms etc...no one will be judgemental, on the contrary we can relate to the situation. My wife was so so hurt when she discovered my 'darkside' and I can't really blame her - it was a great show I was putting on! But learning about this addiction, and more importantly seeing the results of guys who work the 12 steps etc has been incredible.

So good luck and once again WELCOME!

A white soul - Credit to you. You must be in a very hard spot. While your wife might have helped you get here, hopefully as you study more, you will be doing it because you want to be better!

May you be able to get yourself back on the right track and have the strength to go through this all.

I hope everything works out for you! I'm getting married in a couple months and although I was never addicted I had my brush with shmutz on and off over the years.

I hope that everything works out for me and there will be no problem after marriage. I have been clean long enough to feel comfortable that this issue is over with.

If any of you have any tips on how this works and how to help start off married life having seen inappropriate material and how it affects the relationship please let me know if there is anything I can do to help the situation by reading up or doing teshuva in a certain derech
