wow excellent
you are a real mentor for me
i move daily up and down some notches
when going forward gets tough, its merely a sign that you are going uphill, just give more gas
put your sobriety first; before your wife, before your kids, before your avodas HaTorah (except for the 3 that are יעבור ואל יהרג) Without sobriety you won't have any of those things!

It is always an honor to have the guard post on my thread, even if it just for a test.

I just edited this post because I noticed it is my 500th post. (Not sure there is any real significance, but for me round numbers are always special)

I guess it is significant that I should be singing the guards praises on such an occasion.
Perhaps the whole needing to find my way to GYE was just for a test.

I just realized that despite the fact that I have not watched porn or acted out in over a year, and despite that I only a slight urge every once in a long while, to watch porn, I still have a skewed way at looking at women.
I still see them in a sexual way. I still notice different parts of their body and think about them having sex.
It doesn't necessarily arouse me or trigger me to anything worse, and i can usually just move on a few seconds later at most, but the thought is still there.
The truth is i am not completely sure that this is always true nowadays, and it could be only in the situation I am in right now, experiencing all the previous reasons that pushed me to porn as an escape (loneliness, stress, pressure, feeling out of control, overwhelmed, a touch of sadness [albeit much more slight than in the past]) and I should just be proud that i have made it to a point that while in this situation my biggest problem is the above.
With the help of Hashem, the oilam here, and my wife, i have been successful in finding other healthier means of escape or coping and they are definitely helping me right now.
all the best,
una

Over a year Huh?

You are awesome. May I ask - Do you have a regular time to learn? With significant success that you have, your noble neshama is eternal and thus wants continued growth.
With over a year clean of acting out saying to yourself "I am sober" as miraculous as it is - it won't cut it now. You have a new spiritual cheshbin now. Keep up the recovery most certainly, but move up the spiritual success expectations a notch.
not so different than a guy who was in serious debt - got a proper job finally - but now after a year of success is capable of moving up in the company.
(If of course you are doing this already then ignore the above)

Yes I have set habits to learn (habits as in certain points of my day as opposed to times)

And in general I have been experiencing tremendous personal and spiritual growth as a result of honestly facing the underlying issues that had been leading me to act out. It has been a wonderful journey. I feel like i am constantly sorting out myself more and more and making a major renovation from the foundations and upwards.
