TOPIC: I wish.... 2821 Views

I wish.... 01 Sep 2014 06:12 #238438

I'm not 100% sure where to post this. Please move it if it's in the wrong place.

I wish I was guided
I wish that I knew
I wished to have someone
To speak things through.

I wish someone would teach me
Someone other than my peers
I wish I knew the beauty
In those early years.

I wish I was taught to swim
Before landing in the deep end
I wish I had the proper tools
From the YH to defend.

I wish to do Teshuvah
More and more, every day
I wish to study Torah
To follow in its way.

I wish a lot of things but would've, could've, should've.

There is a lot here
but its meanin' is not completely clear
I'd like to ask and to pry
and to find your reason why

you are wishin' for stuff
that makes things so tough
you focusin' on the past
oh! how long can that last?

And if a wish and a hope are one and the same
We don't play that game
Actions is how we strive
that's what makes us feel alive

you're feelin' all down
typin' with a frown
Teshuvah and Torah
and then you'd dance the Hora'

Oh! I 'wish' you real well
you seem like a guy so swell
a poem can go in any place
always puts a smile on everyone's face

Very good

The point isn't to focus on the past, rather to learn from it for the future.

To be a little more specific: the more I wish things were different growing up, the more I do things differently with my own children.

And as I said in my story: I don't have any hard feelings for my parents and teachers. They were doing what people did back then. They are great people who truly tried their best.

Thank you for artistically articulating your feelings, Cheshbon.

If you would generally keep to one thread, people would have more context to understand where you're coming from.

Wishing things were different probably won't change how you do things with your children.
Becoming different, now that will definitely help with your children.
Look forward, make slow and secure change in your life. That is where you gotta put your focus
