Parshas Noach

Vayarach es reiach hanochoach, the RBSO had pleasure from the korban of Noach.

The Mesora says there is another place where it say 'vayarach', when Yaakov came to Yitzchok to get the brachos:
vayarach es reiach begadav, chazal say al tikrei begadav ela bogdav. The 'smell' of the rebellious descendants of Yakov.

Why does the RBSO derive pleasure from the avoda of a human being?

Because they have a yetzer hara and even so they struggle to do the right thing.

Great vort, Zemiros.
The Blind Beggar is a character in Rebbe Nachman's story of the Seven Beggars.
If I view a woman as an object, I am powerless over lust, but I don't have to look.
I can guard my eyes.
I want to guard my eyes.
I do guard my eyes.
Why do I say these four lines?

Parshas Noach

Noach miktanei emana hayah
, Noach waited until it started actually raining before he went into the Teiva. Chazal say he did not really believe that the mabul was on the way.

The previous Amshinover Rebbe (from NY) zt'l explained that Noach had such strong emuna in the people of his generation and was sure they would do teshuva until it was proven otherwise...

(Rebbe Nachman famously told Reb Noson that his problem was not that doesn't believe in HKBH, it's that he doesn't believe in himself enough...)

I heard this vort being said that we should read it with the commas moved a bit;

Af Noach mikatanei emuna hayu maamin = Noach believed in the lower classes of society. He was SURE they will do teshuva!

V'eino maamin sheyavo hamabul!

Ad shedachfuhu hamayim - & he saw that his hopes didn't materialize & they didn't do teshuva on time!

Parshas Lech Lecha

אל הארץ אשר אראך

The RBSO wants a yid to live in this world and take care of his physical needs (אל הארץ) and He should still be able to look the yid in the face... (אשר אראך)

Parshas Lech Lecha

והאמן בה' ויחשביה לו לצדקה

The word 'vehe'emin' is written without the letter yud. Yud is associated with chochmah - wisdom. Rashi explains Az 'yashir', that the yud al shem hamachashavah ne'emrah.

Avraham trusted and was loyal to the RBSO without the intellectual baggage.

That's exactly how I fell: I am so bad, yet I am sooooooo frum. Now I'm just average, while I am l'Hashem, the meod part had to stop.
Great vort, Zemmy!

Dr Sorotzkin talks about it a lot.  He had a patient who acted out and then said he needed to have a gehiobeneh shabbos.  The Dr said, "what you need is a "normal" shabbos"!

(PS don't know what gehoiben means) Great, high, holy???

I also feel that being ok with "normal" has helped me a lot.
