I once heard someone explaining the significance of Chanukah on the radio as the Jewish peoples' rejection of tyranny and fighting for their religious "freedom". I thought that sounded nice... for about 10 seconds... and then realized that they have it all backwards. We were fighting for the "right" to be Slaves to Hashem (which is true freedom), but you can't sell many greeting cards wiht that message .
