Without The Waters of Torah, We Can't Put Out The Fire.

I highly recommend learning Mishnah Yomis as a relatively easy way to gain Yedios in Kol HaTorah Kulah. (Mishnah Yomis involves learning 2 Mishnayos per day, and finishes Shisha Sidrei Mishnah in about 6 years.) This is certainly true for those of us who don't learn Daf Yomi. Even for those who do, Mishnah Yomis covers the Masechtos that Daf Yomi does not, allows for the fast acquisition of Yedios, and encourages the participant as he finishes one Maseches after another with a relatively small investment of time. What a self esteem booster!

Chazal, on the Pasuk "Mei'Asher Shemeina Lachmo" (Bereishis 49, 20) note that "Shemeina" has the same letters as Neshama and Mishnah, and inform us that Asher guards the gates of Gehinnom and does not permit entry to anyone who regularly learned Mishnayos. A nice side benefit to participating in the Mishnah Yomis!

For those who would like to hear a free daily Shiur, Rav Moshe Meir Weiss, Shlita, Mora d'Asra of Agudath Israel of Staten Island, gives a very clear and informative Shiur in Mishnah Yomis on Kol HaLashon. Two Mishnayos per day takes only about 15 minutes. You can hear the Shiur by calling (718) 906-6400, and then choosing options 1, 2, and 4. Besides for the current day's Mishnah Yomis, you will also be given the option to listen to archived Shiurim. With the beginning of Maseches Peah, it's an opportune time to begin learning Mishnah Yomis.
