This thread has been asleep for a while
but I figured that Elul was a good time to bring it back to life.
A kabbalah, bli neder, that I plan to stay away from non-jewish news and sports sites
at least for Elul and Aseres Y'mei teshuva.
I have a YH for news from the states, especially presidential elections ( I know its stupid, but what can i do)
and unfortunately it brought me back into the YH for sports.
needless to say the pics that are found there are not healthy
but that isnt the real issue
it's just the waste of time that i believe translates into trouble in many ways
Baruch Hashem nothing has happened and Im in a good place
but i recently revisited the gemara in brachos
לעולם ירגיז אדם יצר טוב על יצר הרע
its seems to me that instead of laying low and trying to avoid confrontations
we need to be active in fighting him
I dont mean going to the beach and taking him on directly
but I think that taking active steps towards keeping him on the defensive instead of me
is in order.
So this is my effort, my korban for this elul / yomim noraim
btw everything is blocked by my filter except for google news
which i am allowing myself to just see headlines
to be aware of whats going on, but not clicking on any of the links.
it demands a little will power
