had a nice A&W moment this morning.

i opened up my email program and see an email from Hakhel with something about brachos shailos in the subject. that starts me thinking that i really never found out the correct bracha for wraps. i always assumed they are mezonos. so i start thinking how i really should ask a shaila.

after all the emails download i go through them and look at the hakhel email and that is exactly the shaila they discuss (it is mezonos).

A&W moment is 'awe and wonder' moment

i forwarded the whole email to your email address and i am pasting below the part about brachos.


Q:  At the office I often send out for a tuna wrap. Today I ate two and a half wraps and was quite full. Was I required to wash and bentch? 

A: No. The correct brochos would have been mezonos and al hamichya. Had you eaten croissants (which are classified as pas haboh bkisnin) instead of wraps, and had a shiur k’vius seuda of the croissants you would have had to wash and bentch. (Halachos of Brochos, p. 485).But wraps are too thin and floppy and do not have the consistency of a bread product. Therefore, you may eat a shiur seuda without the requirement to wash and bentch. (Heard from Maran Hagoan Rav Elyashiv, Shlita).

This sounds like a machlokes to me.  I'm pretty sure I heard they were hamotzee from a reliable orthodox cholint-eating rav.

my kids already know the answer to any halachik question i ask - machlokes of course - mi kiamcha yisroel  8).
