At the non addict level there is obviously a great difference between yidden and others. I think it's much more than that. There is no problem with having massive indecency on rated R and cable TV shows for them and all the respectable publications Will write about it. We will hear about how the Internet and all the indecency on it is ruining peoples interest in having real physical encounters and how they are upset that it is ruining peoples interest in hooking up.

What comes out very clear from the general culture is that hooking up and sleeping around is completely OK, and seeing tons of this stuff is also OK. The New York Times even had an article questioning whether it's really bad for 11-year-old kids to see the stuff. Somewhere in the article, they said that there's no evidence that it's bad for the kids and maybe it's good for them to explore a little.

We are so drastically different than the general culture, and they are so OK with going to clubs, parlors, and things like that and bachelor parties and the list goes on and on. So yes there is such a wide range of what is acceptable or at least tolerated normal behavior in the general culture. Someone in our circles he was addicted to watching Game of Thrones and well it's standard cable TV indecency would probably end up on this website and maybe even in recovery. The chances of that happening in the secular world are next to nothing

I'll respectfully disagree- I don't look at porn as of now but give me an open computer and I'll be looking for the racy scenes from movies and cable shows, many of which are pretty explicit so maybe they are porn anyway. And it's definitely Lust- love how my autocorrect capitalizes that word- and that's one of the main things that I'm working on now.

And it's not a "normal" thing- it's because I find them stimulating and is driven by Lust. There are tons of people who are addicted to R rated Lust before it moved to x rated and they probably should be on GYE then; it's just that usually they have to cross what in their head is a red line in order to feel guilty enough to look for help.

Most of my Lust issues specifically come from that type of media.
