Hi All,

Even though I am a newcomer, I wanted to start this thread to talk about times where I feel that the Guiding Hand of Hashem steers me away from potential problems. I would love to hear if you have had similar experiences.

Two things that happened to me recently:

1. I was slated to spend two Shabbatonim in which I would be in close quarters to a woman from the community I am attracted to. The first one, they could not find babysitting coverage and could not attend. The second one has actually been scheduled for when I will be away (hopefully I can avoid / be OK with my SIL on that trip - however, I am taking this as a Divine sign that He will help me pull through.)

2. After a great day yesterday - learning, being Mr. Mom (my wife was out of town for the day) - I felt myself burning out and getting the desire to act out. However, my 4-year-old had other plans - I had to lie down with him until 11:30 because of his tummy-ache. By that time, I was basically too tired to do much, and managed to stay clean.

Does your life run like this as well?

Mine does. Mr Mom I feel the same way, I am Mr. Mom since beginning of January and will stay till mid July to my four month daughter.

It kind of hurts to be honest. To be called Mom, since I am just a dad. And that is big for me.

Anyway it is a struggle to keep awake after everyone is in bed and read Rashi or post on GYE, but this is why I am here. I need to get my thinking sober, my actions sober - and being tired is real dangerous if you still want to get some work done.

Hm, is reading Rashi "work"?

Anyhow all the best to you, and I hope I didn't write something stupid and offend you. If so, please forgive me.

Yesterday afternoon i was stressed out big time from work and other stuff (i know, its not an excuse, just an explanation). And i went online (with GYE actually open in another window in the background!) and found a long-forgotten back door to one of those stories I used to read. I actually clicked into it, but before i could even begin to read, I hear "Bloop!" A good friend here had suddenly popped up on chat just to say hi, and i immediately closed that site. Wow! It was like Hashem was grabbing me and pulling me back from the edge...

Smile that your little one HAS someone to call Mom.

I have had the same experience - although with not-so-friendly interruptions. I have been sitting at home about to get into realy bad stuff, and been interrupted by emails or phone calls with crises from work. I have started to thank Hashem for my former boss, who was unwittingly instrumental in pulling me out of some of my worst moments.

I consider it a double-chesed from Hashem when I get a friendly interruption

Interveneless?

It's called Hashem letting you believe you can act independently.

You can't?

Dictionary: Independent:

1. not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself:
"an independent thinker."........Is our opinion or conduct influenced or controlled by God? This is a good bechirah question.

2. not subject to another's authority or jurisdiction; autonomous; free:
"an independent businessman.".....We are subject to His authority.

3. not dependent; not depending or contingent upon something else for existence, operation, etc. .....We definitely are dependent upon Him for existence.

4. not relying on another or others for aid or support. ....We do rely!

So Skep; what is it that you meant?

Thanks

"...letting you believe..."

See what you wrote for definition #1.

If He didn't let us believe that then there would be no Bechira.
