davidswerl OFFLINE Fresh Boarder Posts: 4 Karma: 0	I have one already and I have been trying to get in touch with duvid chaim but he hasnt asnwered me (he is moving/moved to Israel as I am sure you know) but I really need a good sponsor (as i am sure everyone does). I want a sponsor who is holding in the 12 steps and the big book and would be able to lead me through it just like duvid chaim has scott I want a scott.

Just curious, why not try real meetings. I'm sure you could find a good sponsor there.. On gye - who knows? you might get a guy that has no clue (and thinks hes scotty2) and mess things up big time. (By telling you to fight "machshovos zaros" and have more "self control" etc.) What your looking for is a real 12step veteran.. Gye is great to post and get to know people, but I dont think its a safe place to find a sponsor upon such an apeal. (Beshem Dov - Mipi Hashmua)

(*I mean a sponsor for addicts, not crticizing the parter program ch'v)

A jewish sponsor for sure can realte much better with us. However I dont think scott is jewish.. and Duvid Chaim writes that he learned a ton of him. Yes, somehow a sheigatz can show us how to start living..
Why not try it*. If you feel that you are not getting anything from it, at least you know you tried and did your best. (I love that feeling)

It may not be worth it to wait for the exact right person. As dov has said, the most imporant qualification for a sponsor is that he is not you. gmar chasima tova!

Everyone is different.

I chat with guys on here, talk with some on the phone, and I have met a couple of gye members. While it is nice to meet the person on the other end, because we have become good friends, the meetings really didn't change anything for me.

To me, the people are just as real on chat and on the phone as they are in person.
