Shalom rabbosai- I'm coming off a really bad bein hazmanim, with a lot of falls. I am going to a new yeshiva this zman and really need to make sure that I don't start these bein hazmanim habits there. I really hope I can succeed. That is all.

Welcome to the family! Redfaced hit the nail on the head, and don't forget to look around here. There are many skills to learn in the flight to freedom program, and there's so much to learn from the oilam here, so spend most of your time and energy learning, and when you have 2 minutes to spare come here and learn how you can also break free! Keep posting my friend...and don't ever forget to keep trucking!

Much hatzlacha and don't let the bein hazmanim experience ruin your new zman, the best teshuvah is to go ahead and to good stuff.

I came across a nice story about Teshuva from ר נפתלי טרופ the Rosh Yeshiva of Radin. A Bal Darshen once spoke to the bucherim a scary shiur about Teshuva and other stuff. When the bucherim told the Rosh Yeshiva that they are scared from this derusha he told them the following story.

There was once a ship sailing through the sea on a long journey. At some point the captain realized that the compass is out of order and is not showing them accurate navigation. They were completely lost and felt helpless. They announced on the ship if anyone knows how to fix a compass, and to their great luck there was an engineer who was able to fix it. The second they had it back on the crew relaxed and the captain announced, “our journey might take longer that originally planned, but we are on back on track and we will reach our destination”.

Teshuva is just fixing the compass. Once we have a well working compass, we might still have long journey ahead but we are in the right direction and with hashem’s help we will reach our destination.

Yes we learn from the ben sorrer umorrer that is punished bec he is headed to bad stuff. Certainly, when it comes to midda tova, Hashem rewards us based on the end result
