Hi Thanks,
I believe that a Jew feels that to redeem himself he must also help redeem others, as he fixes himself he fixes the world at large.
This becomes Not an ego driven endeavor but a process that can shed light onto others as well. When its not about you, it becomes easier with time, as you feel that you are on a mission to help others.
When Hashem sees that you are not only there to save yourself but you take your problem and deal with it on a community level, then I think that Hashem gives assistance to you to succeed. When you help others and motivate others, Hashem helps and motives you too Mida Keneged Mida.
As I have indicated before, the 90 days chart might work for some, but it didn't work for me because everyone there is working for their own medals, counting their own days, and everyone is basically holding on a different day. So the element of counting the days together and turning this into a community project that everyone is doing this together is missing from that chart.
We the Jewish people have a history of success when we stick together. As we all gathered under the foot of Sinai and declared : Naase Venishmah, that is when we were worthy to receive the Torah which is our true and everlasting redemption, the word of God, the roadmap, the blueprint of the universe.
This is why I have created this thread for those who might need a different way of looking at this struggle. Let's stop looking at it as personal issue, but a community issue, and let us instead of each of us trying to solve it for themselves alone, let us try to solve it for the entire community.
This is the secret of Praying in a community Tzibbur. The strong helps the weak, those who pray with concentration motivate those who are not doing so, but in the end Hashem hears the prayers when it comes from a medium of a community.
It also has a benefit that you know that you have to enter your progress everyday publicly for everyone to see. This helps to create self discipline and accountability. On the chart it gives you a chance to reset and no one will care if you fell cause everyone is caring about their own struggle and progress. In this medium, you're putting your integrity, honesty and truthfulness for everyone to see, and it creates a motivation to succeed.
This is why I encourage anyone who might want to try a different way to succeed to join this thread and count along. Or to create their own 40 days and 40 nights thread and put their progress there.
Best Wishes and Much Success to All.
