... if you walk in on someone viewing p***, or m'z or worse.  It seems strange to me that I should be the tzadik and do something about it (ie, hypocrite), on the other hand, Iv'e been in his situation, and I wish someone had stopped me then...

(for those who would ask, yes he clearly identifies with the lifestyle that says all shmutz is treif..)

These are my thoughts for whatever they're worth:
If i would walk in on someone doing something, i hope i'd be the "tzaddik" in that situation. To counteract your "i'm a hypocrite" remark, you're not a hypocrite but rather someone who has a strong Yetzer Hara for it sometimes you win sometimes you lose. It's like Lashon Hara; while i speak lashon hara sometimes that doesn't mean i don't want to, it means i lose the battle with the Yetzer Hara. When i tell you off for speaking lashon hara, or P***, or something else i'm making sure you understand this is a wrong thing you're doing and know that you're doing it only because you lost the battle with your YH, but next time you should try to win

actually the malbim says that there is only a mitzvah of הוכח תוכיח between 2 equals. a tzaddik should not give mussar to a rasha because he will not listen, and a rasha should not give mussar to a tzaddik because its not his place. however 2 equals wherever they are holding will very likely listening to each other.

Good question. I think I would put my arm on his shoulder and sit down and have a talk with him. I would like to believe that anyone doing these things would really rather not be doing them and would appreciate a sincere offer to help them break free.
