Hi all,

I am new to the forum and GYE. I am based in North Israel - married +2. A few years back, I became a BT and learned of the aveirot of hz"l. My whole life prior to being BT, I have been MB and seeing porn. For the last few years, I have been trying to break out of it but have been unable. My prayers to help beat the yetzer hara have been heard, but not yet granted. Very serious and committed to beating this. I am looking for a serious partner in same boat to mutually lean on. Anyone based in Israel interested?

you will find and hear many ideas here...some of them conflictin' with each other.

It might be beneficial not to view this as an aveirah, but rather, as an addiction of sorts.....not to say that you or I am addicted (although I am), but to view it in those terms.

Aveiros - many of us know the chomer ha-issur...the severity of the prohibition...that has not stopped us in the past.

Just a thought....

I must say that I stopped thinking that way many years ago,
b"H, since it is useless for me. It's probably real nice to have
someone or something to hate, to blame, and to vent 'at' - if one is
not an addict, that is. But thankfully, it seems not to be an absolute
necessity to have a scapegoat and 'enemy'. And there seems to be no
inyan for anyone to make certain to have such a thing in yiddishkeit
either, as far as I am aware.

But more importantly, living without it makes my recovery work very
well - while 99% of the guys I meet who are 'into' beating up the YH,
think they are normal, not addicts. So they do just fine of they are
infact normal - but eventually fail miserably if they are actually
addicts. And then - since that derech and attitude is all they know -
they are misreable and remain miserable until they and their lives get
very, very ugly. Then they come around, b"H and do fine. But it hurts
me to see it. I see it happen at least twice a week, with another GYE
failure calling on me and eventually getting into recovery.

So I just shared that with you, man.

Maybe you guys are right in terms of not "packaging it as an aveira", but an MB addiction. I am quite new to this line of thinking. I just want to stop it, which seems in the last year to be "mission impossible".

You are certainly in the right place, a place for people who it seems have done the "impossible"!!

But it's just an illusion, because most of the people here will tel you that they can't stop, all they can do is stay in real life now, in the moment, without worrying about the future!!
