What does the Lubavitcher Rebbe say about the “12 step program” concept?
Are there any majorly accepted authorities who have spoken about this? (I’m not looking for some “random” Rosh, with all due respect, rather known Tzadikim and Gaonim, such as the Rebbes of Chabad, R’ Moshe Feinstein, or the RamBam, or Acharonim…)
AA was founded in 1930's.
Combine that with the tendency to sweep addiction under the rug, the Jewish community hasn't really heard of 12-steps. I think Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski was the one that brought it to the frum community. I believe he has the haskama of Da'as Torah.
Also, AA/12-steps is intented for people who are in a place where it might be consider pikuach nefesh, if not refuas haguf, refuas hanefesh. So with things like this, you go to a Dr and do what he says.
