Hs

I do not know if this will help u or not

I recently missed a family simcha because

Of the obvious reasons

I am not saying

That u should make a fight

How about going to sleep. Act tired and uninterested

U gotta make up what u will do before

Before means before

Once u are at the party

U are not in the position to decide what to do

Happy thanksgiving

B

We're all rooting for you, but if you know this is gonna be a problem, then now is the time to plan. What can you do? It's a guarantee that you're allowed to say that you're not feeling well, spend most of the time in the bathroom, or like Bards said, pretend to be tired - But if you're worried about offending, pretend to be really sick.

This is also important because this gives you a chance to remind yourself that it's worth it to miss out on some good food, etc, for what's really good.

unfortunatly my family makes a deal of thanksgiving. unfortunatly there will be guests with very attractive daughters. i will be doing a lot of learning and davening beforehand. i will definatly be talking to hashem in my mind at the thing. and i will really put the effort it....i have 2 days to prepare myself.
Wow, how beautiful that you have an opportunity to honor your parents by participating in a ritual they don't even realize is a big challenge to you. Each time you turn your glance away from a girl over turkeytime, you can feel so proud that your parents are enjoying having you there along with the whole family etc. Yiddishe nachas fon de kinder!

I'm only saying this to grasp at straws for recognizing the many many mitzvos involved in your taking up the battle on Turkey Day. Honoring your parents, avoiding not just wandering eyes but loshon hora (itself = many mitzvos), reciting tehillim baal peh during moments of weakness, etc.

And most of all, the mitzva of recognizing that being helpless (in the 12-step sense) does not mean being helpless (in the sense of Torah and of individual success in the effort). You'll be walking away with a lot beyond just some memories of young ladies to shrug off.

At least, this is one poor fool's thought. B'hatzlacha.

haha....good morning everyone.
ok it doesnt look like my mom will let me miss it. but i am doing what yaakov did in last weeks parsha. planning for war (torah) asking hashem and telling my yetzer that this is really best for me.    i also have to make sure that i understand, if i look or see anything once or twice or whatever, it doesnt meen im done for and can give up. it just meens to strengthen myself..... but the most important thing is that i have to constantly remember that it is hashem who keeps me clean and it is hashem who will help me reach sobriety.

p.s. frekt the gemorah meens the gemorah asks,....how do you say the gemorah answers? emfors the gemorah?
