day 7
rabbosai,
its is the end of the 1st day of shovavim. the ppl of previos generations used to fast to fix there mistakes. that is NOT our avodah of now-a-days.  these weeks are meant to work on ourselves
maybe i have a shtikkle vort.  we know the famous baal haturim that this parsha is shemos= shnayim mikrah vechad targum. why now? why not tell us this by bereshis? its cus these weeks are when we start getting more careful. looking at the situation from a second view.    idk, i think there is some lesson in this to be learned, idk the right words to say though.
i just borrowed the nesivos shalom on shovavim

Fell shmell - get up, and get back to the world of the living; one day at a time.

Filters are important, but they won't keep you clean by themselves.

i finished the first perek of pesachim today. im going back to do chazarah then starting the next perek, im on hei (5) in my chazarah so far. im keeping myself busy during this vacation. the nesivos shalom says that for this battle one should be mechazek himself in more torah and teffilah and gemilus chassadim.

Re: The life of a soldier in hashems army 22 Dec 2010 21:09 #90393

there are 2 things that i want to learn.
i dont know much of hilchos shabbas. i want to learn them though. im thinking of using the sefer: nitaei gavriel. from my past experiences with the sefer, it is more straightforward.
also i want to learn hilchos yichud from netaei gavriel also. right not its 3 my time. im catching up on GYE, i think when im done ill go back to shul. and learn. i think ill do both hilchos yichud and shabbos today? sound good?
the only hard part is that i am learning by myself. but wither way im by myself, so better learn!

i like nitai gavriel as well, very comprehensive and very straightforward.

i also have a hard time with hilchos shabbos, some things are very confusing for me. bishul, shehiyeh, chazarah, muktzah to name a few.

a good chavrusa in invaluable

my only question is how do you know when you're finished catching up on GYE?

Re: The life of a soldier in hashems army 22 Dec 2010 21:25 #90403

haha..... i dont know:) im reading a bunch of unread threads now.....worst case scenario, ill make sure i go early to maariv to learn before davening and from there, ill stay until 9:00 and at that point ill come home and be probably about 5-10 min early for the phone conference.

those halachos are confusing, we did it in school but it was hard for me to internalize because of the way we are learning it, and the kids im with only learn it to do good on the test in school but not to actually know it.
