i have a condition.
it's called feelings of resentment, ego and lust. they all took up permanent residency in my heart a long time ago. repeated eviction notices and drive by shootings have done little to remove them. we have reached a de facto truce. if they come out of their corner of the room then i have to spray them with bottled skunk scent.
so until they leave i am 'mostly' sober

i am high and holy, but not entirely. i have a body and a soul, or rather i *am* a soul in a body. my job is to try to keep the soul in the driver's seat. all too often the soul got kicked out and the body stole its identity and drove around town masquerading as a soul.

this is an important idea to live with. בכל יום ויום יצרו של אדם מתגבר עליו ומבקש להמיתו
the yetzer is an urge we feel to self-destruct. those urges should not be justified and rationalized just because they sprung up inside me. and they do not define me either. a person is made of of two polar opposites and a constant struggle and tension ensues.

i need to remember that it is 'normal' and expected that i have urges and desires to do things i shouldn't. it does not mean that i am damaged goods. the yetzer/urges are along for the ride. they were *put* there by the manufacturer.

the best thing is that the Manufacturer's warranty is great. we can keep going back to Him for repairs and roadside assistance.
