Hello to everyone here. I am truly humbled to be here. It is the most wonderful thing.
I can not believe that today is...
I had a wonderful insight in the tefilla we say “VCHOF ES YITZREINU LHISHTABED LACH” we daven that Hashem should force Y”H to be subjugated to HIM. All my life I davened that “my” Y”H should be controlled by “me”. NO NO NO I have learned from the first of the twelve
steps we are begging Hashem to force the Y”H to be under HIS control.
This is an
old berdichever quote! But
Ein shichechah lifnei chisei ch'vodecha.... Lacking some basic navigation skills, i got lost and happened upon it today and here is a little vort 4 U:
Rav Schwab ZT"L in his tefillah commentary, writes that if we look at that yehi ratzon we see somthing curious: First we ask for Hashem to protect us from all kinds of cheit and nisayon and from the YH ( it specifies "Y
Horah") having any shlitah over us. The piece about "vchof es
yitzreinu lehishtabed lach" seems, Rav Schwab says, redundant (though I
still hear your idea loud and clear). He answers that the Yetzer in the piece you are quoting is actually referring to creative good power within us, the
Yetzer Tov! (Admittedly not a classical chassidish understanding of the Yetzer Tov, at all.) This is why it doesn't say
what yetzer it is referring to there, and talks about shibud. Our creative powers and "lust" for life can be used to serve ourselves or to draw close to Hashem by being
meshubad to Him. To me, this is similar to the S.Emes on "vehyeesem kedoshim
laylokeichem" - the point is not to be a kodosh: the point is to be a kodosh
for Hashem! Yow!
I still agree totally with what
you wrote and use that kavonoh better in the morning, but wanted to share Rav Schwab's idea w/you anyhow. He was a true tzaddik and a very sweet Yid, yekkishkite and all.
Much love and joy to my
colorful friend!
