Good news for the jews.
Last night we tahkeh had a little zikoron for the Nesivos Sholom!
We learned a beautiful piece on "bein hameitzarim" that taught me that the gifts Hashem gave us - all of them - are for us to give over to others who need them. He also said that the way Hashem made things, all good comes out of initial "ayin" - a state of loss and darkness. I have a friend who is feeling that his whole world is crumbled in ruins around him and that his life is basically finished. Be"H we'll learn it together later and it will help him realize that Hashem knows all about his tzores and has a plan for him.
But here is the thing I really wanted to share with you, berdichever:
The entire zechus is yours and yours alone!!

Gevalt! Something we agree on again, more or less:

There are some who, regarding lust, use the loshon: "cast it out!", and recommend saying stuff like: "I cast it out!" regarding lust.
I don't like that very much. Here's why, from a program perspective:
If I am admitting powerlessness over Lust, how in the world am I able to "cast it out"? This is not the way that step seven is worded. It says, "humbly asked G-d to remove our shortcomings/defects of character". Let's see...humbly...asked Hashem to remove...well, "I cast it out!" sure doesn't seem like either of those to me.
(To SA guys: yeah, i know the white book says it in the back, but so? These people are fallible, too. For goodness' sake, they are on the same journey we are! Sick, getting better. They'd admit it in a flash! Lehavdil, even our great darshanim and chachamim are fallible, technically speaking. We all understand this. K"V in every other human endeavor! Remember, when it comes to the AA and SA literature, even Bill wrote: "This book is meant to be suggestive only," so big deal!)

So, by all means, we addicts ask Hashem to remove the twisted temptations, the lust, as such, just like the defects of step 4-7. But it's Hashem who does it, not us, ever. And whether he fixes the tendency to lust to bring us to the true deveikus we desire, or not, is His business, not ours. We are little cogs living the life Hashem makes for us. The entire avodah of the program is to get out of His way and allow Him in! The result is daily reprieve from lust. Holiness? That's strictly His business.
As the Sfas Emes brings: the ikkar word of the posuk "vehyissem kedoshim leylokeichem" is "leylokeichem"! To do avodas Hashem to be a kodosh because it's better, is not what He wants. What He wants is for us to work to be a kodosh FOR HIM! I keep my eye on the ball - the avodah. Hashem is in charge of all outcomes and all success!

Point well taken, Bardichev.

I specifically set my filter to block Google Images and Google Videos, and other similar services, even though the filter is supposed to limit me to "Safe Search."  The potential for mischief is simply too great.  I also specifically blocked certain search terms that have tripped me up before, but that the filter does not block by default.
