For those that use google voice to keep up with friends from GYE here's a few tips to make your experience even better.
1) How to make a call from your google voice number using your flip phone without going online or using the app:
You first have to make a voicemail password which can be found under the voicemail menu in the google voice settings. You can then call your google number from any phone and when it goes to voicemail you hit * and enter your password. From there you go into the main menu, and option 2 allows you to make a call and your google number will show up on the caller id. To make things slightly easier you can set up that when you call from your own phone number it goes straight to voicemail, this way you don't need to sit through the whole dialing and whatnot. To do this you go into the call menu in the google voice settings and click create a rule. You can then set up that when you call from your own number it will go straight to voicemail. (It seems that you have to create a contact from the phone number you want to use for this, you can't just type in a number)
2) Let's say you want to be able to receive calls on your phone, but you don't want it ringing and catching you off guard when you're not available to talk gye hock:
Usually when someone calls through your google voice number the caller id of your phones screen will show you the callers number. In the call menu you can switch this to show your own google voice number every time someone calls instead of the callers number. You can then go into the call rejection menu on your phone and block your own google voice number and the phone will no longer ring until you remove it from that menu.
