Personally, I'm waiting for that test that when you HAVE an income it shows what you're really made of.  ;D

Wealth and poverty are both tests.  I think it was Shlomo Hamelech who davened not to have to suffer either of them.

Sci-guy,

In the Friday night prayer (really, kinda a love song) of Lecha Dodi, where we welcome this Gift we have from Hashem of Shabbos,  the Shabbos is referred to as the Mekor HaBeracha, which means "the Source of Beracha."

I have heard and read many stories about people who have either taken on from scratch or who have increased or deepened their observance and commitment to Shabbos, and soon they have gotten a trememndous Beracha of Parnose, thru jobs, investments, windfalls - you name it..

In Yiddishkeit, real personal growth is also a process of "Progress, not Perfection." Hashem wants our sincerity, and our honest trying to grow, at a pace which works for us. I know I have things that I can improve in my honoring and observing Shabbos. I think we all can determine for ourselves where we can improve a little each week. What can I do for THIS SHABBOS that will show Hashem I want to be closer to Him?

Shabbos is the Source of the Beracha from Hashem of Parnose. As the saying goes, 'You take care of Shabbos, and the Shabbos will take care of you."

May this Shabbos bring comfort, Peace and JOY to your home, and may you be blessed quickly with a BIG BERACHA for parnose.

Love,

Steve

things going well.  Dancing around to find a place in the house the kids can't see me on the website.  NOT EASY, with 4 of them running around.  Things are good.  Got a small break today on two job fronts.  Now all I can do is pray.  Thanks to everyone here and really sorry I have not been around so much.

Another day of being clean and sober.  It's been a pretty good one so far.  I had a thought this morning that I just can't get out of my mind.  I have been worried a lot regarding all the things that happen when you lose your employment.  And in past if something like this happened I would have ran to the crutch without even thinking about it.  Right now, that crutch or my allergy to lust, is not even thought about.  I feel more alive and certainly nervous but more alive.  Not sure whats happening on the job front but I am close to getting a very good what I would call second job that could lead to a main source of income.  It's in G-d's hands to help but I must be the actor.  No slips or falls, non needed or wanted.
