interestingly, yesterday i opened a Nefesh Shimshon on Shabbos and in the back there are stories about him. When he traveled he would not eat meat (out of kashrus concerns). For shabbos he would make a parve cholint. He said that you can't make a plain parve cholint, it needs to be special in some way, lekovod shabbos. So he would add Swiss chocolate.
