Hello,
We are interested in running the attached letter by HaRav Aharon Feldman, Shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Ner Yisroel and member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, as a full page ad in ********. Spreading this vital and urgent message to Klal Yisrael would be a tremendous Zikui HaRabbim. Time is short, as Neshamos are being lost every day.
The Rosh Yeshiva's letter is nothing less than groundbreaking. I say that because it is probably the first letter by someone of the Rosh Yeshiva's stature to fully acknowledge the scope and extent of the problem, and to further acknowledge that we're dealing with an addiction/illness, not with people who are evil and simply need to exercise better self control.
Rav Yosef Veiner of Monsey has made a remarkable statement: that the Nisyonos of the Internet are, without exception, the most serious issue facing Klal Yisrael. The Shiur can be heard at this link (this topic is addressed from about 21:00-47:00).
www.torahanytime.com/scripts/media.php?file=media/Rabbi/Yossi_Viener/2009-07-30/Tisha_BAv_Our_Responsibility_Toward_Others/Rabbi__Yosef_Veiner__Tisha_BAv_Our_Responsibility_Toward_Others__2009-07-30.wmv With the very large size of your readership, there is little doubt that many of your readers have this problem, and many more are at risk. Who knows how many people will be helped if you assist us in getting the word out?
Unfortunately, Klal Yisrael is, for the most part, still in denial. For example, "Shattered Glass," the serial being run in Mishpacha Magazine's Family First, deals with a Kollel Yungerman who suffers from "Internet addiction," an obvious euphemism for pornography addiction. I am aware that Mishpacha received so many complaints that the author was forced to change the story line to something less threatening [i.e. that basically stopped addressing the issue altogether].
You may get some complaints for running the Rosh Yeshiva's letter, but I am confident that many more people will admire your courage, and quite a few will, b'Ezras Hashem, be helped in a major way.
Looking forward to your response.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
*******
P.S. As for the concern addressed in your message below, I note that, unlike the ad that was under discussion back in October, the Rosh Yeshiva's letter does not provide the Guard Your Eyes web address. Furthermore, unlike in October, you now have confirmation that the entire Guard Your Eyes program is suppported by Daas Torah.
P.P.S. Although I am operating under a pseudonym, Rav ****** of *******, who is copied to this message, knows my identity and can vouch for me. I believe that Rav ***** is acquainted with Rav ******* [who is on your Rabbinical Board].
