I was just at the mecha'ah before by tamir. By the kabbolas oil malchus shomayim, i had gye in mind, that one day  will be zoiche to make a big kiddush hashem in the world too, and bring many more people closer to avinu shebashomayim.

It just doesn't sit well with me that it should be known by everybody as the 'way to deal with THAT problem'.

That's an interesting point... It's a delicate balance between letting everyone who needs it know, and yet not making it a main-stream topic for everyone to talk about, even those who never knew this was an issue... No need to get them thinking "too much"

That's why I think that one of GYE's goals should be not to educate the masses about this, but rather to educate the Mechanchim, Mashgihim, Rabbanim and Askanim - and make special handbooks of guidance for them to learn how this addiction works and what tools are most useful at dealing with it... And also to provide them with handbooks to distribute to those who turn to them and those who need it... And to educate them to find subtle ways of making their people aware that there is help and hope to be found...

Balance, Balance... We need lost of wisdom and siyatta dishmaya...

Wow!  You said it. This is precisely how I feel, but may not have been able to put into words this well. I am glad to see someone else saying this besides myself. Especially you, the Guard.

Of course this does not take one ioda out of what I/we have to do for ourselves.

You're on fire, rabbeinu! Did Chanuka have anything to do with it?

"Off the 18-wheeler and fine on this tricycle!", "I do not particularly care exactly which "lav" suicide is. I'm not interested in it for other reasons...and you are probably the same."

Anyone can dream.... But only Hashem can make real things happen.

The question is, will we let Him?

I don't know exactly. The Guard of us once had an issue with strangers posting things on this site, and I was one of the people who complained and  was designated to "clean it up". Now there are plenty of moderators who do that, I think.

What does "chazakster" mean??

I'm very happy to report that, this evening, I had the privilege of speaking about GYE for 20 minutes with a very well-known and talented Frum writer, who is highly respected among all spectrums of Orthodoxy, and whose readers must number in the hundreds of thousands.  He had not heard of GYE, but seemed quite interested in what GYE is doing, and agreed to speak further with Guard.  Let's hope, b'Ezras Hashem, that this leads to GYE being able to reach many more people in Klal Yisrael who desperately need its help.

I just sent the following e-mail (somewhat edited for posting here):

[b]Dear *****,

I very much appreciate your giving me time this evening to discuss “Guard Your Eyes,” www.guardyoureyes.org, a vital resource for Frum people who have fallen prey to Internet pornography addiction.  Also, thank you so much for graciously agreeing to speak with the Guard Your Eyes (GYE) administrator, a true Tzadik and Mezakeh HaRabbim, who has given up his Parnasa as a computer programmer in order to help people faced with what is likely the Nisayon of our generation.

Any assistance you can provide in getting the word out about GYE would be a tremendous Zikui HaRabbim.

Thank you so much.

Sincerely,
********

P.S. In our call, I referred to a Shiur by Rav Yosef Veiner of Monsey in which he said that Internet pornography is, without exception, the most serious issue facing Klal Yisrael.  The Shiur can be heard at this link (this topic is addressed from about 21:00-47:00).

Dear Chevra,

Although the GYE Mechitza requires some getting used to, I believe it is a very important development in the future of GYE.

Indeed, I just sent this follow-up e-mail (somewhat edited) to the very well-known Frum writer:

Dear R. *****,

I'm delighted to have seen you one more time at Rabbi *****'s lecture last night.  I hope you have (or had) a wonderful trip back home!

There is a breaking update regarding Guard Your Eyes (GYE), www.guardyoureyes.org, which further demonstrates how it is being run Al Taharas HaKodesh by its dedicated administrator.  I had mentioned to you that there are strict rules prohibiting private communication between male and female GYE members.  However, until two days ago, there was no rule against Chizuk given publicly between the genders (on the GYE forum), provided that it was done with Tzniyus.  That is no longer the case.  In immediate response to a problem that arose (I'm not familiar with any details), the GYE administrator sought rabbinic guidance, and made the forums separate for men and women.  Now, men cannot even view the women's forum, whereas women, although they can view the men's forum, are unable to post any comments.  It's sort of like a Mechitza with one-way glass!  I think that, b'Ezras Hashem, this change portends well for the future growth of GYE within all segments of Klal Yisrael.

As we discussed, the GYE administrator will, IY"H, contact you early next week.  Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide to this unique and vital organization.

Kol Tuv!

Sincerely,

*******

Letter mailed today to the world famous Rosh Yeshiva, discussed earlier in this thread:

Dear Rav *****, Shlita,

As per my telephone message yesterday, there is a very important update regarding Guard Your Eyes (GYE), www.guardyoureyes.org, which speaks volumes as to how it is being run Al Taharas HaKodesh by its dedicated administrator.

There have long been strict rules prohibiting private communication between male and female GYE members footnote: Although GYE members are almost exclusively male, there are a small number of female members, currently, about six].  However, until three days ago, there was no rule against Chizuk being given publicly between the genders, footnote: Posts on the GYE forum can be read by anyone, and all posts are supervised by the GYE administrator and/or by a number of moderators] provided that it was done with Tzniyus.

It is similar to a Mechitza with one-way glass.  I think that, b'Ezras Hashem, this change portends well for the future growth of GYE within all segments of Klal Yisrael.

Any Chizuk the Rosh Yeshiva is able to give to this unique and vital organization would be so very helpful and appreciated.  Indeed, the Rosh Yeshiva’s call last month to the GYE administrator was a tremendous Chizuk for everyone involved with the organization.

As I mentioned previously, a letter of support from the Rosh Yeshiva, at his earliest convenience, would be of enormous assistance in helping GYE expand and reach more of Acheinu B’nei Yisrael, who so desperately want to extricate themselves from this difficult and very private Nisayon, but don’t know where to begin.  If the Rosh Yeshiva is able to give an approximate time frame for completing the letter, it would be of great Chizuk in the interim.

Thank you so much for the Rosh Yeshiva’s continued support.

Sincerely,

**********
