If you'll be by the Agudah convention - especially by the session called "Tangled in the Web", please print out flyers and leave them there!

Why dont we arrange for someone to present and speack about this amazing website.
It will be a real opportunity to finally get the word out to everyone. This is trully a golden opportunity and we should take advantage of it.

Guard:    Is there any chance you can get R Twesky to represent this site. At the dais, and in public. If anyone else does it, they either have to be a respected phycologist, realy respected rav, or a guy with a paper bag on his face....cause everyone's gonna write him off as a 'client'/'patient'

Seroisly speaking. Whoever gets up there has to have a good reason for being farmilliar with this site. and whom better to discuss the most rampant addiction, and the best know cure, than the jewish worlds best know addiction specialist! Chassidish, modern, and yeshivish alike should respect him, and not go bla bla bla to the filter stories.

Also mybe contact the agudah about listing some of the more heartbreaking stories, that don't mention and great loopholes (we don't want to teach the public new tricks).    (i would be willing to re-write my story for them, abrridging some identigying details, and filling in the litererary blanks. but I only got comp. access on friday and motzaai shabbos US time.

Four of the big Rabbis/specialists at the convention were made aware of our work - and were asked to mention it. I am pretty sure at least one of them will.

If anyone was at the session, please give us feedback and let us know...

Just look for a large spike in traffic, and we'll know the site was mentioned.  :'(

I just received an e-mail from Philip Rosenthal, a top addiction therapist, who spoke at the convention. Here's what he wrote:

Shavua Tov,

As you may have seen, I did my presentations at the Agudah convention. The first one was very scripted so I was not allowed to vary from what I said. At the second one, I had total control, so I was able to discuss Guard Your Eyes at length. I was happy/sad to see that many people were aware of the site.

Rabbi Twerski said to me me awhile ago, that he was "passing the torch" to me, as he considers me the expert in this field. With that, I would like to know if there is a way that you might possibly make available to the olam the fact that not only do I speak in yeshivot and other Jewish venues, but I treat the addiction and provide therapy for it. If there were a way to prominantly display that, I would be very grateful.

If I remember correctly, you are in Israel. If you are ever planning to be here in the states, I would love to meet you and discuss this issue more in depth. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to finally be allowed to address the Agudah Convention. There is still much work to be done. Your site is an island of sanctuary for those suffering from this unfortunate Yetzer Harah, and through the combined efforts of people like you, there is hope for them.

I may be mistaken, but isn't Philip Rosenthal the computer crime investigator at www.philiprosenthal.org/ ?
Is addiction therapy a side thing he does? I do understand how computer crime and computer addiction are related though. So maybe he does therapy as well?

I was wondering the same thing.  Maybe, indeed, he does both.

yup, that's him...

I wrote him back:

That's truly wonderful. Thank you for talking about us! May I ask how many people (approx) were in the room when you spoke? Was it broadcast anywhere? Recorded? Is there a way I can get a recoding or a transcript? Also, do you know if any of the other three people who spoke at this particular session (Tangled in the Web) mentioned our work? (We tried to let them know about it too).

I will try and give your name more prominence on our website. The new website www.guardyoureyes.org has something called "Tools" at the top on the menu bar. One of the tools is "Therapy Options > therapists"... You appear there in the list, but I will try and bring your name higher up on the page. I will also announce in a daily Chizuk e-mail what you wrote me, and about your services.

Thanks again, keep up the good work!

He responded:

As far as I remember the other panelists did not mention you. I am pretty sure that the panel presentation was videoed. The follow-up session later that evening was not recorded (unless someone did it privately). That session went from 10:30pm until almost 1am.

There I gave a rather comprehensive explanation of your site and mentioned that it has the hoskomos of many like Rabbi Twerski.

There were approximately 200 people inthe first session, and approximately 75+ in the evening session. The evening session was all new faces. ALmost none of them attended the earlier one.

Rabbi Zweibel mentioned to me that possibly next year, I may get the keynote address. This should be an interesting year.

Please keep in touch!

Congradulations to GUE!

I was wondering what you think of the idea of creating flyers and hanging them on the back door of the yeshiva dormitories.
I am not saying that it should be given at all Yeshivas but perhaps at Yeshivas that arent known to be the greatest lamdanim. This is not to say that those Yeshivas that have better learners dont have this problem. I understand that this problem is all over the jewish world and in every type of yeshiva possible. Its just that the Rosh Hayeshivas from the less top yeshivas may more likely give their approval to post them at their dormitories.
