something that helps me and helps many people is having people you can call who understand the issues we are dealing with. when a moment of weakness comes and we feel like a drunk person reaching for the bottle we can get an emergency influx of sanity by reaching out to someone else who is objective about the situation and can help us stay out of the garbage.

you can have anonymous relationships, meaning it is possible to just give the guy your phone number and your screen name. this might be all you are comfortable with at first. eventually you will probably become more at ease and exchange real names and not hide behind screen names and the like. takes time to build the trust from both ends.

about wives knowing, that is a long and involved parsha. if you look around the forum you will see it discussed, as Yosef Hatzadik generously referenced.

the general idea i get is that it is not a good idea to break it to the wife unless there is substantial 'clean time' under your belt and it can be looked at as something in the past rather than in the here and now. but every case needs to judged individually and you should not rush into something like that.
