The purpose of this poll is to try to prove that people don't have charata that they signed up.

To me it seems that the guests who don't sign up, are simply afraid they might regret it.  Maybe they are afraid of being discovered.

Perhaps the results of the poll will encourage them.  They can't see the results or vote, but we can at least keep them informed.

Baruch Hashem, once i found this site,i got involved asap because i felt desperate.
btw the same thing happened when i found out about the SA meetings in my area.i went running over there b/c i kept falling and felt the need to do something different.
btw one of the slogans i heard in the 12 step rooms goes something like this
Insanity is if u keep doing the same thing and expect different resuts.

I signed up INSTANTLY for the 90 day chart and the forum. So far it's been great. I needed this 20 years ago and I would be a different person if I had.
How can anyone regret this? There is nothing to lose except Gehennom in this world and Gehennom in the next world.
Calling all guests to join me and "world" and "yedidya aleph" and all the other eye guarders.
The Blind Beggar is a character in Rebbe Nachman's story of the Seven Beggars.
If I view a woman as an object, I am powerless over lust, but I don't have to look.
I can guard my eyes.
I want to guard my eyes.
I do guard my eyes.
Why do I say these four lines?

I was very afraid to sign up. I think I did not want to admit to myself that I have a real problem that I could not deal with on my own. Even though I had failed to do anything about it for years, we are funny creators.

I am glad I signed up, it change my outlook and I have made much progress.

This is a great poll!

Maybe one of the moderators can put this as a sticky and change the title to something more catchy like "Poll: Regrets?" or something of the sort so that people will notice the poll. I just happened upon it by accident but would sure have taken the poll ealier had I know that it was one. The same I would suggest for all poll, if there are any more on this forum.

The issue is not signing up. There is little risk (or benefit) in signing up. The question is regarding posting.

I personally am a tremendous fan, user and believer in this site. There do remain some strong [legitimate]questions that on can have:
Since the site is totally annonymous (including Guard all posters and Global Moderators), how does one know:

  1. That no-one is using the site to figure out his idendity (perhaps through using administrator information) and eventually blackmail him? (It has been shocking what kind of identifying details people have accidentally posted.)

  2. That the people he is conversing with are not actually using the site in an inappropriate voyeristic manner to get a thrill out of hearing frum people talk about their inappropriate s*xuall experiences? (14 certainly (originally) fit this description. I suspect this was the case with Noahide as well.)

  3. Even if nothing nefarious is taking place that the person he is talking to is genuine and not some computer program or other well meaning fake?

If people spend enough time on the site I believe they will be able to overcome these concerns, but these are the concerns that need to be addressed.
I am not big enough to not do something I WANT to do because I know it is wrong, but I've been around long enough not to want to do many things, even though they are really enticing at the first glance.
