I went on a walking trip today, only men and boys. There were about 8 chareidi men and 25 children and one woman collecting the money for the guide. I am sure she was dressed according to the letter of the laws of tznius and probably according to the spirit also (I didn't check) but she was a real problem for me. Seven men standing normally and not the least bit disturbed and me with my glasses off turning so that my head was always pointing away from her until she left. Why am I different? Thank you Hashem for choosing me to serve you this way!

I would like to add that I had to give this woman money for the trip and she asked me to change a big bill for her to give change to others. That caused me no problem at all. That was a normal interaction between two people. It was when I was not talking to her that she became a problem.

The moral of the story is not to talk to every woman that we see but to realize that they are ordinary people like me and you.
The Blind Beggar is a character in Rebbe Nachman's story of the Seven Beggars.
If I view a woman as an object, I am powerless over lust, but I don't have to look.
I can guard my eyes.
I want to guard my eyes.
I do guard my eyes.
Why do I say these four lines?

Very true - and that they have the right to be respected as a real person.

This is regardless of whether the woman herself might appreciate the attention - she still deserves better!

Every day is a challange. Every woman and every girl.

I am clean for 60 days for the third time in 30 years, by the grace of God and the help of GYE and SA.

I assume you realize that no woman and no girl are a challenge for you.

The only challenge in the room is you. Your mind is the challenge.

They are just people living their real lives. You and I are the ones over here with the silly mistaken attitudes towards them who live in fantasy - or struggle to break free of it....also an unnatural state to remain in for very long.

Maybe it's just semantics.

Love you,

Dov

I am clean for 62 days, by the grace of God.
My mind challenges me to lust every time I see a woman and only Hashem can help me to be shomer my einayim. Each day is a challenge to stay out of Hashem's way and let Him help me.

I love you too, Dov.

66 days sober, by the grace of God.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Today I will try not to lust after, objectify or deify any woman or girl.

The only insurance and tefila you can make today that may have some chance of being effective to improve tomorrow is doing right today. That's it.

In frum words, the only segula for tomorrow's sobriety is today's.

Not so for the white-knuckler, lo aleinu R"l, for those guys the more days they hold back, the more desperate to act out they become! For them, counting the days is the disease and the cause of their future acting out itself!

Bar minon.
