You did not waste your life. You are labeling. Thinking errors such as this one could well be the cause of your depression.

Maybe you hate math because you were hoping to get the Fields medal and since you didn't get it now you are rejecting math, instead of math rejecting you?

When you get past your depression you'll figure out that the world is full of little pleasures, and that there is no need to qualify for your right to exist. You are free to enjoy life even if you are only average.

I heard that 80% of US mathematicians work for the NSA. Can you work for them?

I hated Mathematics in '96 already -- long before I got a degree in it.

Do your parents treat you nice at least, now that you did what they wanted you to do?

I think for someone such as yourself, the Breslov approach to Hashem is a good one.
These are the teachings of Rebbe Nachman, and focuses on joy.

I prefer not to discuss my family issues. In any case my work has been poor. In USSR poor work was called tufta -- since the work was forced, workers found genuine ways to not do it.

Thank you very much. Are there any Jewish forums where I can just talk to people about general issues?

Generally for general issues you get a Rabbi.

Yeshiva World has active forums about anything under the sun (well, almost anything)

I have never used a Jewish discussion Forum for general issues, but I found this:
