Another Answer to the question raised by Bards, R' Yeruchim, and R' Chaim Shmulevitz:

It is indeed mind-boggling that a young orphan being sold out as a slave -BY HIS OWN BROTHERS and being sent to the most degrading place on earth (Ervas Ha'aretz) should give a damn about the aroma of the merchandise.....

The answer is that yes, It did matter to Yosef Hatzadik.
Bec to him the ride down to Mitzraim was a ride like any other; he was calm and relaxed and in just the right frame of mind to enjoy the aroma of spices... -HE HAD FULL FAITH THAT HIS HIGHER POWER WILL SEND HIM TO EXACTLY WHERE HE BELONGED!!!!
There was nothing to fear....

8 days of hallel

Ok also parties latkes donuts I know its called sufganiyot etc etc

Main thing 8 days of hallel and praise

Why?

We were victorious in a war

Which culminated in the renewal of the bais Hamikdaash

The victory was a total miracle

As we say in al hanissim

Many in the hans of few

That's pretty miraculous

The strong in the hands of the weak

Wow! That's a miracle

The un pure in the hands of pure?

Is that a miracle?

The wicked in the hands of the righteous?

Zaydim (I don't have a perfect translation)in the hands of those who toil in Torah?

Why are these 3 categories miracles?

Its not my question

But bards wants to offer a good answer which is a major chizzuk

The miracle was

The pure were a liTtle pure

And a bit of a tzaddik

And somewhat of a Torah learner

The miracle of chanuka is

Even if we do a "little"

But a little light banishes much darkness

Face it its a dark world

People are soo harried so troubled so hopeless

Comes chanuka

Ahhh a little goodness can accomplish so much

Enjoy your family

Celebrate being a Jew.

Remember greeks and their roman followers which is todays western culture. Is all about superficial external glossy veneers

Yiddishkite is all about taking the seemingly mundane and raising it to the highest levels of Serving Hashem

So enjoy your latkes. And jelly donuts

Most of all thank Hashem from the depths of your heart for putting you on the winning team
