How can I block images in a normal google search? Every time I start typing a phrase, google brings up images on the page. And often they aren't nice....

Can someone search for "block images in google search" on Google? And please let us know if you come up with anything (my filter is whitelist, so I can't access any sites).

i have unfortunately not discovered a solution to this one, i asked my wife to block all search engines, i have to type in the web address to get somewhere, or i do a google search only if she's in the room.

it's pretty hampering though, so eagerly waiting a solution!

This doesn't seem to be a problem on my computer, but I'm not going to try to see if I can find a problem.

Maybe do your google searching from a taskbar google search box, rather than from actually going to the Google site?
I am not big enough to not do something I WANT to do because I know it is wrong, but I've been around long enough not to want to do many things, even though they are really enticing at the first glance.

Someone answered me by e-mail:

It seems that it's only possible, if you're working on google chrome.

If you already have it downloaded,

1. Open or Run  google chrome
2. Go to google chrome options from the top right menu as shown in the image below.
3. Click the tab Under the Hood and click the button content settings…

4.  Now click the images tab and select the option which says do not show images to block all images or click exceptions to specify some selected website to which should be blocked to show images.

I replied:

Thanks, I actually do use Google Chrome, but I was looking for just blocking images when I search for a phrase in a normal google search... B"H I actually found a way to do it. There's a setting on the search called "Instant is on" - "Instant is off"... If it's off, it only shows images when you FINISH typing the phrase, not "As I type", which is what was annoying me...

Thanks everyone.

I have had K9 installed on my computer for a while and it has really done a good job, but I found that even after checking off the various categories I could still "dig up" some inappropriate pictures through google image search, even though the site itself is blocked. (He is really good, the Y”H!! zaken verogil) I tried blocking images through K9 but that blocked all images including icons on GYE.

After a number of attempts I overcame the problem like this: Besides for blocking categories, K9 also has an option to block specific sites. So I just plugged in "google images" and it did the trick without interfering with any other sites.

Later I received from the filter gabbai two other suggestions:
1. enable "force safe search" www1.k9webprotection.com/aboutk9/product-features
2. use adblock : www.guardureyes.com/GUE/Filters/blockPics.asp

I use "Image Like Opera" which is a Firefox add-on which is recommended on GYE itself, and in What Works For Me on the Forum in a thread started by Yiddle2. It does a really good job, as do Adblock and Flashblock. The link for "Image Like Opera" for Firefox users is https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1672 WebChaver says you can get it for Google Chrome also, עיין שם.
This add-on is currently available only up to Firefox 3.5 but not for the latest 3.6. What a tiny, little sacrifice for a big קרבן to Hashem.

Does anybody know how a non-addict can keep his Blackberry browser for business but still block images?
